HELP - I am a newbie - engine code 16??

I have a 94 FD. The check engine light has been coming on periodicly and I don't know why. Sometimes if I shut the car off and start it the engine light will go away other times it won't. I ran the diagnostic thing and it flashed 1 long followed by 6 short. What does this mean?

I HAVE SEARCHED so please don't waste your time telling me to run a search. It won't let me search for the number 16 and the list of engine codes that I've found don't have a 16? What am I doing wrong?

Alright, I just found a thing that says 16 means this:

EGR Switch
open or short circuit

Any ideas how to fix it?

I took mine to mazduh a couple of years ago to fix this same problem. I think it was 200-300 dollars.

If you eliminate it (unplug it), you'll still get the check engine light. Check this out https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=21848

I think someone on this forum successfully did this mod.

The ECu will keep throwing a code even if disconnected. The only ways around it is to buy a new one(hell no) or use a relay so the ECU thinks its working. 93's are so lucky all they have to do is block it off.
