HELP! How to get rid of exhuast burn on back bumper
Normally, after a track event it would be really minor, i would just sit and scrub alittle harder and longer to get it out cuase it wouldnt extend past that rear back up light. But after driving 18+ hours to New Orleans from Dallas, ive got rainbow colored burn over half the back of the bumper and up to the taillights.... and its NOT wanting to come out. Have you guys tried anything that makes this stuff go away easy and safely? Im getting really frustrated.... thanks in advance

Some good car wash followed by good wax (read Zaino or Meguire) should take it right off. If it's still there, try some diluted simple green but make sure you wash it off right away.

I've seen some cars that put a plate on the area directly above the exhaust. Any idea what they are made of? Granted if you have a stock looking FD it wont fit in, it's just something to think about.

thats not paint....
I usually use the zymol cleaner/wax. It is good for the most part but some of the stain is very hard to get off, takes 2 coats.. maybe some serious scrubbing. Mind you this is after a week or two. I have a white car though, it's very easy to see, makes the side of the bumper yellow.

I made SS pieces that pop rivot into the bumper above the exhaust and they look pretty good IMO. I'll take pics and post them....they are polished and have a little sandblasting emblem on them.

ive used claybar to take off paint over spray and it worked wonders for the entire car. It says its supposed to remove any kinda of oxidation too, so you might wanna try it.

the Orange clean, the castrol stuff, diluted simplegreen, will it "scar" the clear coat at all? i have a black car and ANYTHING shows up VERY easily on the paint. thanks for all the input guys!
Canman, maybe you can tell us whats in the cleaner stuff that you have, or something like that so that we little people in the states can find something close to it.
THanks!

Also, ive tried the Clay bar, and that doesnt take much of it off at all... maybe a really really thin coat of the brown stuff on top and ruining that peice of the bar for good...
But do i put the cleaner wax right on top of the burns? help please. thanks!

Ninjak try a finish restorer/minor abrasive like 3M Finish Restorer Wax (it's not a show wax) or 3M Rubbing Compound for fine cuts. If the color is that strong and won't come off with what you've routinely tried, it's probably lightly discolored the top of the clear coat and these should remove that. I'm afraid some of those detergents might hurt your black car's finish (mine is black, too). I have a dark blue minivan that someone keyed a couple of weeks ago and these products and Yellow Wax to follow have made it impossible to find the scratches and the finish is still fine on the dark car. I think they sell those 3M products at Wal-Mart.
