Help & ? for guy's who don't drive they car in the winter but
Hey I have not driven my car since it's been snowing up in the NE on regualry basis {like over 4 months}, anyway last week I start it up it rev fine and then the idler comes down but the car start to shake and backfire alot. Today I deceide to start it again it fire up fine, but again when the idle comes down the car start to shake and backfire and now I notice the idle is hunting and getting very low like the car will shut off by itself? Also I notice that when I rev the car it sound like only 1 rotor working? Can the car start up fine but still has 1 rotor not working properly? Also my exhasut is completly is aftermarket so I no it's not my exhasut, and I had removed my 2ndary butterfly but leave the asw connected cause & everything else but I alway start the car in 1st gear which delete the asw. I have no cluse what is going, anyone ever exprience this stuff b-4? any input will help damn I never thought I would be on the other side? thanks, khris

i have no idea what happened to my car after sitting either. i had the same problems as you today. it was actualy nice out and i wanted to go beat the **** out of it... no such luck. there is a huge miss, none of the guages work and it is running lean as all hell. (reading 19.8 at 2k rpm on the fjo) and back fire like a madman!!! huge flames after the throtle closes.
i will try to diagnose it tomorrow and see what i come up with. i didnt realy look for the problem just got pissed off and let it sit and then went drinking.
the one thing i did try was to zero my timing in the haltech. i recently did it for 2 other FD's i put a e6k in, and never did it to my own.... could not get a ******* signal and timing light worked fine on another car today..

i left my FD in the garage for a month without touching it. did the same thing. they don't like the cold. just rev it a little to clean up the plugs and let it warm up. should be fine. this is completely normal. all my cars did this when i let sit for long periods of time. khris you don't need a new engine. let me borrow it. i can clean out the carbon for you

jon, side question for you a fellow haltech user. do you ever get a backfire just by putting key in on position? i do and it starting to worry me as a friends backfired in the intake and blew the gasket between the TB and the plenum. just wondering if your ignightors are firing before car was on. or if yours is similar. maybe you can ask Ito if this is normal?

Well I start it up today and it run fine, However I was correct my back rotor got stuck for couple of seconds which cause the car to run crazy like if the devil was in it. Yeah Jon, I think should give u my keys so the car can get a person who can drive it like it should instead of it just sitting in my garage. btw do u have Jay email address? I need my mazdaspeed hood to be painted, khris
