Question help, car wont accel past 3k

my car sat for a week when i was at school. when i got home the car would rev fine. then i took the car down the road. let it warm up a minute. when i got on it and tried to accelerate in a gear past about 3000 rpm it bogged completely, almost like its ussual split second stutter. i drove the car slow for awhile, the temp was fine, why is it doing this? thanks. -Steve Prew

If you have a lot of miles you prob have a cloged cat or it might be in limp home mode. I think if you disconnect your battery and hit the brake or something it will reset the ecu and get out of that mode. You might want to try that first and if it doesnt help pull the cat and drive down the road to see if it helps.

Mine is in the middle of this problem too. I did the self diagnostic test with the paperclip and got error code 45....you may also want to search under "limp mode".

check your vac lines, there may be something that came loose or disconnected.

Actually, you do have a blow off valve...

Do you have a boost gauge installed? If not, now would be a good time to get one.

If you see smoke coming from the exhaust it could be your boost control. Try to see if the line came off of that. (the boost control is on the firewall)

If your battery went completly, wouldn't the ecu still be in a "learning" mode?

GsrSol: I've never had a problem like that from disconnecting the battery.

My car is doing the same thing, and its going into Limp mode because my oil metering pump is malfunctioning. Bad wiring or something. Does your check engine light come on? Pull the codes, I bet you'll find something.

I have to chip in in here. Could be the MAP senso hose that poppes off. When this happens you get bogging at WOT some smoke and a gasoline smell. Also the car would have an eratic Idle. If you have these symptoms do a search on MAP sensor and youll find lots of info.
