Help! Came back from charging freon and A/C is still not cold!

Well the title saids it all. I do know that my compressor is working since I hear additional sound when the a/c button is pressed. Anyone have any ideas or advice? I'm bring it back to the AC shop this weekend but I'd like to get some opinions before I go. Thanks in advance!

Have them pressure test it to see if any freon leaked. Many ppl had technicians who told them to replace compressor, dryer and wasted $$$$ for nothing. Before spending more money fixing it, find out where things are leaking. I had a tech who told me that I needed a compressor when all I needed was to get the hose reconnected and freon filled again. Not many people know what they are doing even if they are certified to work on AC. So take it to another shop for a 2nd opinion before dishing out another $500.

Look at the sight glass and make sure there are no air bubbles flowing through it.

The proper way to charge a system is

Hold system in vacuum for 15-30 min to make sure there are no leaks.
Vacuum all moisture out of system.
Charge system with r12/134a

If you receiver dryer was exposed to moisture, that could be a problem. Make sure the compressor is not cyling on adn off too often (sign of low freon)

I would also make sure there is air flowing through the condensor.

Hope this helps.

Did you have it checked to see if it held pressure? Also did you do the uv leak test if it was put into the system? Might be the dryer if it was exposed to a lot of air from what i know from talking to my mechanic. Having my a/c evacuated and recharged tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that there is nothing else wrong with the system!

thanks for all the inputs guys! I forgot to mention that the AC shop converted my system to R134a, maybe they did something wrong converting it?? They also said they changed all the oil and the freon in my system, so I assume that they got rid of all the r12 stuff. I was wondering where's that sight glass you guys are talking about? thanks and keep it coming...

The sight glass is right infront of the battery. If a shop did it they should have tested it to see if it was cold and check for leaks.
