help! buying a used rx7

I'm going to check out a 94 rx7 tomorrow and I was wondering what potential or hidden problems I should be on the lookout for. I never had a rotary or drove one. It has about 85k miles rebuilt engine at 8k miles ago. Thanx

Things to check out? Service record if possible, feel the vacuum lines to see if they have been serviced... See if any of the recalls have been performed. Look for modifications... honestly the more stock the better so you dont have to trust someone elses wrenching.

Check for oil leaks etc. If the owner will let you do a compression test and coolant system test you'd have a good idea on the engines condition.

Honestly it can be a crapshoot buying an FD. Very few are maintained up to standard

do a quick search on the threads but if you can get it pressure tested by a mechanic who knows what to do with rotaries. It would be great if you could hook up a boost gauge to see if it holds a 10-8-10 pattern. Ask to see it started when its COLD and look for smoke, coolant smell out tailpipe.

Yup, its unfortunate but many aren't ready for the heartache of letting it sit until it can be repaired and go rip on it, and make it much much worse lol
