Hello and Newb questions

Wanted to say hello and ask a couple questions (I tried searching but didn't find). I'm in the process of selling (and parting out) my 2006 Evolution 9 and getting a 94 RX-7. I'm quite excited to join the "team". Before the Evo I had an 04 STi fairly modded. Anyhow, a couple questions...

1. To move to a FMIC (Apexi, HKS, GReddy, etc..), do you have to do any cutting, bending, altering of the bumper or other parts to make it fit? Is it a simple bolt on with no permanent mods done to the car? Same question with a V-mount.

2. What kind of WHP will you see with a cat-back, DP, intake, bigger stock location IC or FMIC, bigger radiator (Koyo, etc.), bigger injectors/fuel pump, boost controller and fuel computer (SAFC)? Keeping stock turbos.

Thanks!

1. Depends on the FMIC. Permanent changes would typically be required for an FMIC or v-mount.

2. All bolt-ons with upgraded fuel system on stock port motor is typically max of 340-350 rwhp. You need a REAL standalone ecu to do this, like the Apexi PFC. The S-AFC or E-manage will not work on an FD.

Please read the FAQ thread and use the search function BEFORE creating threads asking general questions.

Thanks for the answers. I did try and read and search. The section on FMIC in the FAQ section takes me to some search site.

As far as the ECU. It's not possible to use a piggyback? There is a whole section on it in the forum.

There is no good reason to use a piggyback. The PFC standalone is superior in almost every way, and the small amount of money you might save by using something else is truly trivial.

Yeah, mostly for 2nd gen RX-7s. No, a piggyback won't do the job.
