Heat levels with new engine and NPG+

Well I got my engine running, everything stock including pre-cat,cat,car-back, intake, IC etc. Only drivetrain mods are an ACT clutch and a M2 9.5lb flywheel and a PowerFC.
I filled her up with NPG+ and at first the temps were really high, 110C to a max of 122C about 15 minutes after I shut it down. I figured the thermostat was shot so replaced it and it fixed the problem but I still think I am running a little hot. Under light driving conditions (under 4000rpm, no boost) I am getting ~95C , goes down to 88C or sometimes even 84C cruising at 75 in 5th.
I'm afraid that running the PowerFC is causing me to run to rich and causing overheating but if I use the stock ECU I can't monitor the temps since I do not have any aftermarket gauges ecept for a boost gauge.
Are slightly higher temps expected with NPG+ ?
Does running rich cause heat?
Should I put the stock ECU back in?
Thanx!

95C = 203 F
84C = 183 F

I think those temps are fine. The fans don't turn on until 226 (or 221?) with the a/c and lights off.

I really doubt you'd see anything lower than 84C since the T-stat opens up at 180 F, which is 82.2 C.

your current temps sound close to what I see with my PFC. Usually around 93 driving around town and down to mid 80's on the highway. Please forgive my ignorance, but what is NPG+?

Tom93R1 - NPG+ is non-aqueous propylene glycol plus some other stuff made by Evans Coolent.

You are definitely running too rich with a PowerFC and no air flow mods. This is not good on the engine. Now that you know your typical temps are fine, I would put the stock ecu back in until you are running two air flow mods. You should get rid of the pre-cat anyway.

I will be getting rid of the pre-cat, cat, etc just as soon as I pass CA smog in three weeks :-)
rynberg: Thanx, I'll need to do it for smog check anyhow so might as well I guess. Just makes me nervous not being able to monitor stuff.

I concur redundantly that your temps look okay. I'm running the PFC and NPG+ and usually see a two degree difference between 92 and 94C. I don't have a belly pan yet though, so I should end up a little cooler at highway speeds once that's installed.

p.s. In answer to an earlier question, NPG+ temps do tend to run a few degrees higher because, in theory, the coolant can absorb more heat and therefore does.
