Heat coming from underneath the passenger side...
I purchased '93 Rx7 with 107k mi about a week ago. It's automatic, but drives very well. I still haven't done any tune-ups but the engine seems to be working fine as well as the cooling system. However, I began to notice heat coming from right underneath the passenger side's door. It's enough heat to feel when I'm driving 45mph with windows open. The heat dissappears as soon as I turn off the ignition. What could this be?

Heat coming....
I think it's under the passenger side floor, but externally. The car is 100% stock, and I don't have no exhaust upgrade. Is it something I should worry about?

Well the precats are known to become clogged after time, but make sure you do your research before modding your 7.

Thanks a lot. You've been a lot of help!! And Quick!!!

Btw, is it possible that the normal exhaust heat is putting out that much heat? And is this normal?

Actually, I am quite bored. I've been a member for quite some time but due to me being over seas for half of the past 5 years (military) I have not been able to be an active member of this board.
I am currently on 24 hour duty with no tv and only a computer, I figured I'd get to read through alot of the posts and post my two cents.

No problem...and honestly you can't go by my replys alone but I personally have owned 2 FD's and only had some slight heat on my auto FD because the precat started to clog up.

anyway...the precat is basically the stock downpipe that has a mini cat in it...my advice, get an EGT gauge and see if your exhaust heat is higher than normal...

My advice: find someone else with an FD and try standing next to theirs. These cars make a lot of heat. When the raditor fans are running, they pump hot air through the engine bay, which heats the air even more, and then out on your feet and legs if you are standing next to the car. It may very well be normal. It may appear to stop when you take the key out because the fans stop running.
Pre-cat issues are usually associated with low-boost-at-high-RPM or slow-spooling-turbos issues. Do you have a boost gauge?

You on the other hand have been a member since Feb 2001, with 7,981 posts, which averages out to roughly four and a half (4.7) posts every single day for the past 56 months.
I'm sorry that I've been overseas serving my country in shyt holes where I don't have the luxury of sitting on my *** and posting four and a half messages every single day!
Next time instead of taking 10 minutes just to produce a psp photo of my post times and flaming me, you should use that extra energy and frustration to pump out some work on that engine swap of yours, might be alittle more productive.

I don't have the time to review all 7,900 + of your posts, why don't you analyze them, break down the techincal/bs posts you have done and put them on a spreadsheet (excel is preferred), and email me the results when you are done.
Thanks
