Reason for asking is that there are also other ways to cut down on heat other than just a hood(in case u were wondering)

A properly functioning FD will not have overheating problems in any street conditions nor even tracking conditions in reasonable weather. Fix the problem properly! If you don't know how, get the car to an FD shop.

You might need some general maintanance, hoses, thermostat, colant flush. Could be many things.
