Headlight cover question
Headlight cover question
So I need to replace the headlight covers on both lights. I did a search and it landed me on a carbon fiber set from eBay. My question is has anybody actually used these I've been burned by the "direct fit" before.

I have a set of those on a black R1 (my Dads car, but I bought and fitted them) and while they do fit fine, the look of carbon against the black paintwork is not the greatest thing. They always look 'dirty' grey/brown against the solid black. Might have blended nicer if he had a carbon hood too. They stick out too much on their own :p
If you were going to paint them body color, or like the carbon look, go for it
But Ray at Malloy Mazda can get OEM covers at a similar (maybe slightly cheaper) price?
*Edit: after 2 years on our car, the clear gelcoat turned a dark yellow in the UV from the sun, something else to know I guess

Thanks, I think it will blend real nice with a cf hood, once I can get the money man those things are expensive. I thought about getting the Oem ones but figured the cf would be stronger in the long run.
Yeah, go with OEM. The headlight covers are complicated enough that only OEM fits right. I had a nice R-Magic Japan vented headlight cover, it was the real deal and it fit not so great. I can only imagine how bad a cheapy Ebay one would fit.
OEM and done. They come pre-primed and ready to paint.
