Having Idle/turbo hesitation problems (video)

Hello everyone I am having hesitation/idle problems with my car ever since I de-flooeded my car using the remove spark plug method. I have replaced the spark plugs and every time I start the car it smokes. The color of the smoke is white. When I start it the car doesn't do the usual AWS but goes to around 2k RPM and drops from there. The car also takes longer to warm up.

My mods are Apexi N1 evolution, ARC induction box with K&N filters. Parts I have but need to install are metal AST, HKS downpipe, oil catch can, and have a BLITZ SMIC coming soon.

I have not done the silicone hose job yet. And I think it might be this problem since, it idled real harsh when I deflooded and it might have messed up the hoses.

I have new fuel and oil filters and new spark plug wires that I will install if I can get it to the auto hobby shop.

The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrFXAMeHttU It is me driving with the phone in my hand and doing the shifting and driving with the other hand. So the video is a little shaky. I get out of the car at the end and show how it is idling. The idle drops after going into nuetral and drops even lower around 500 RPM and has dipped down so far so it would stall.

Any questions you may have I can answer questions you may have. Video as of today.

Do you have a vacuum gauge? What are the readings?

How do the spark plugs look?

I don't have a vacuum gauge but compression was fine whn I bought it a couple months ago. I haven't checked spark yet. I work at night and sleep in the day so I'll try to find some time to look at it.

Flooding rotaries always have a combination of weak spark (from old plugs) and excessive carbon build-up. How many miles on the engine? Is it the original engine? Vacuum readings would really help diag the problem. Also compression readings from a couple months ago wont mean anything if your engine is carbon infested. I wouldn't be surprised if you had a stuck seal after de-flooding. Pull the lower plugs and egi fuse. Turn the engine over and listen for even pulses out of the plug holes. If they don't sound even, do a compression check again.

Edit: When you replaced the plugs did you spin the engine over with all plugs removed? If you really do have a heavy carbon deposit problem, it's also possible the upper trailing plug holes could be slightly clogged if you didn't do that. New plugs wont spark properly if there is debris on them.

The car has 88,000 and the engine, turbos, radiator was replaced at 55,000 miles at a Mazda dealer have paperwork and it shows on carfax. So the engine and turbos have 33,000 miles. Service was done at the same mazda dealer and have paperwork from the original owner.

I flooded the engine 2 times and both of them were because I wasnt thinking. The first was driving my car from my driveway to the garage and the second was from the sidewalk to my driveway.

I did the method to deflood the engine by taking off the spark plugs and taking the EGI fuse out and turning it. Ill check the plugs again. They are brand new.

I think I am going to just do a hose job on my car. Ill look and see if anything is in need of replacement.

Ill be doing it on my week off.

I would recommend for you to fix this issue before you dive into the hose job. That way if you have a problem after the hose job it is easier to track down.

Double check that you connected the spark plug wires correctly. When you say it smokes, how much does it smoke? It's fairly common to get white smoke on startup due to condensation in the exhaust but it should clear up after some time running.

Well I dont entirely know what the problem is. It could be the hoses that are the problem. I work a weird schedule which is 7 on 7 off. So doing a hose job is no problem since I have 7 days I can work on it. I plan on doing the hose job and replacing all the other parts (i.e. oil/fuel filters, spark plug wires, doing fluids, and fixing my powersteering leak I have).

Ill try to do more work on my work days but am limited by time. I rather find the problem first before doing a hose job btw.

It is possible that I did not install the plugs correctly but I did use the correct spark plugs.

There is smoke when I start but it goes away after I drive it a while the smoke smells a little like gas but the flooding was bad where gas was in the exhaust so it could just be the residual gasoline left over.

I might go back to my stock intake system and see if that helps. I havent seen any increase in performance on my car with the ARC filter. I since installed K&N filters so I am not sure how they work on my car.
