Have you ever taken a C5...

...with your FD with basic mods such as:

DP, Catback, SMIC, Intakes, PFC, and know how to drive/shift.

Or the FD needs more mod to run against C5 or C5 ZO6

TIA

Must have been a poorly driven automatic one then. 6-speed C5s trap 110+. I don't ever remember seeing a cb/dp car trapping 110, not even close.

Oh Yeah, I have gone up aginst several C5's on the track, no C6's yet though. I was able to out break, corner, and acclerate just about one of them. And my FD is rather prudently tuned: Intake, DP and Cat-back, with slightly ported turbos. The C5- Z06 is a beast and with my mods, It takes a good ammount of effort to hang on to the back bumper of one.

This says a lot for the FD, a 13 year old car with 150K miles on the chassie can keep up with a bran new $50,000 american made supercar. Oh, and I almost forgot, its only a 1.3L engine. That pisses off every V8 owner when you tell them that!

I was able to dust a few at VIR in my old car; might not have been as cazy as I am though

Old mods:

PFC PFS tuned at 13psi at 329
HF cat
Cat back
M2 large IC
1200CC injectors
open intake
many other goodies, but that's pretty much it. I also took a C6 down and a 360 Modena. I'll have to post some video.

Only a very good or very lucky driver could beat a stock C5 if the FD has only basic mods. Otherwise, the HP/weight ratios make the C5 quicker in a drag race. On a twisty track, the match is closer because the FD is faster handling. The Z06 is in a different league than either car, however.

I wouldn't call PFS mods "basic".

By basic, tphan said "DP, Catback, SMIC, Intakes, PFC"

Hmm well my FD has basic mods. M2 stage 3 + suspension. Thats the M2 ecu tuned for 12 psi, upgraded SMIC, DP, Exhaust, M2 intake, and non seq stockers and puts down 315 at the wheels with 301 ft/lbs torque (back when the motor was healthy). I had NO problem running stock C5 vettes. These are BASIC mods and im putting down just as much if not more than a C5 does at the wheels. Plus im lighter.

I'm an old white man who owns an FD, C5 and Forester XT. None are stock, but my concept of "basic" mods obviously is not the same as yours. If you include ported engines and upgraded intercoolers as basic, what do you consider to be advanced mods?

My FD has the basic bolt on "Mods". It's faster than a C5 but a Z06 C5 is another story. I'm very close to the same speed in the straights. But if the Z06 is well driven and running tires with as much grip as mine then I can't really pass it at the track.

The last track day I was at there was a C6 Z06 and Ferarri F430. Both pulled on a me pretty darn well in the straights. I was only able to pass later in the twisties because they were on street tires and I had race tires.

I dont consider myself a professional driver by any means. I did however leave all the suppension/ drivetrain mods out and, I didnt want to get into a pissing match of bolt-ons. When I am the track the car is slightly stripped (pasanger seat, spare tire, etc), not to mention my biggest wepon, ADVAN a048 sticky ickies on the front and back.

I can out acclerate a stock C5, but aginst a Z06, I stand no chance from the top-end of third gear on. So then, on long, open track like RoadAmerica the Z06 will pull several car lengths on every stright but I make up the ground again in the breaking zones, which I can go into so much deeper.

There is one other thing I left out, I am a bit more aggresive at the track than the 50 year-old 300lb guy trying to work out his mid-life crisis in his shinny new Vet.

I have taken a c5 and an 04 z06 but I do have more than what most consider the basic first bolt on's.

I got a car length on a c6 with heads, cam, and exaust from 20 to 120 ish. I think he has 430 something at the wheels, and I was on low boost (10 lbs)

I have also ran a c5 auto, wasnt even a race.

I don't street race, so that's all my FD does too.

Vettes are fast. FD's are fast and can come close with some modification, but not your basic "reliability mods". In a drag, your going down, but in a track run or auto x you will hang. just my $0.02

Well...only if the FDs come with 1 more rotor, bigger turbos.

C5s has about 270 more cubes than 13B FDs.
