SVT Cobra = beat on the way to my haircut. The guy even took his shirt off before he started revving his engine, i rolled down my window, raised an eyebrow, made a disgusted face, turned up the 1500 watt subs, and proceeded to float him. then got a pretty sexy haircut, all in all, a good day.

I test drove an 02 mustang GT right after trying an rx7 and the stang felt like a SLUG - Not only is the visability awful and the shifter annoying but it is slow as *****. They are nice cars and can be fast but stock they don't compare to an FD. Needless to say I bought the FD.

No offense.

I spanked 5 mustangs one night at the same time 2 months ago. i was going downtown on 55 and all of a sudden 5 moded stangs were merging in from the ramp. I slowly past them up at about 65-70mph and one of them( 99 cobra ) decides to **** with me and reving his **** up. I said, why the **** not?? so i waited for them to all pass me and i drop it to 4th pull next to the ******* that was ******* with me (99 cobra). I pulled on that ************ so hard that i think i pulled at LEAST 6-7 car lengths. there was an older style stang in there group that i think is supposed to be the fastest out of there group and he wanted to race me and got behind me and high beam my *** and i too gave him around 6 car lengths. after that they were all just behind me and did nothing but looked at the rear of my car the way.

i've owned my 7 for 5 yrs. now and never had a problem.
i guess you just have to know rotary to own one, and in your case stick with your stang.

I've only raced Mustangs while my car was still stock, and I smoked em all. The only car I've "lost" to was a 2001 Corvette - dead even through 1st, then he pulled on me in 2nd; and a modded Camaro SS on the highway, again while I was stock. I also raced an NSX after I got my intake, and pulled on him (only through 1st though, since we were on a main road).

That being said, yeah, I did blow the motor a couple months ago, but I'm not the original owner so who knows what was done to it previously Or, not done to it. Also keep in mind non-turbo rotaries are a whole 'nuther thing in terms of reliablity; my 88 GXL had 160k+ miles on it, and still going strong when I sold it.

When I get it back and broken in, I'm going hunting for some new challenges. No offense, but I just stopped racing 'Stangs because there was no point. I think the new ones are bad *** looking and have considered buying one, but my FD has me by the ***** and isn't letting go

<I know this is dug from the grave, but it's such a silly question...you just can't resist!>

Definitely was rollin at 70 and let the GT (new model) hit it first. Saw his nose jump forward a little dropped my (stock at the time FD) into 3rd took it up a few rpm's put it in 4th and by 120 mph I was easily in front. Let off after that, can't afford a reckless ticket. Of course he had to fly by me after I hit my brakes.

I hate to admit it but I got seriously smoked by a 'sleeper' cobra mustang in my fd on the freeway... Granted that was three of four years ago when my car was basicaly stock and running poorly.

The race was from about 75 mph. We both dropped the hammer and he dusted me, bad. His car just opened up and ROARED. I was still gaining on him at 140mph and he was already on his brakes with his arm out the window waving. Damn that cobra was unbeleiveable! My buddy and i pulled up next to him and had to give him some applause(golf clap).

I have since been buying and installing all the bolt-ons ... ic, ecu, DP, Hi-flow cat, etc... I'd like to meet up with that guy again. Don't know if I'd beat him this time. But, I certainly won't get smoked.
