Oh those crazy guys at SR...the linked page specifically says 93-95 RX-7s but in the pulley's description...

Our SR pulleys are also larger than the competition's pulleys so the fan belts have a larger surface contact area ( so our pulleys _won't slip_ on the fan belt causing your rotary engine to overheat which is very common)
If I had a nickel for every FD that overheated because the fan belts were slipping...well, I would have the exact number of nickels I have now because it's never happened. Obviously this could just be a mistake caused by someone copying a description from a 2nd gen or something...but considering SR's "ultimate rad" is exactly the same as a koyo except it has a sticker over the koyo logo and costs $180 more than a koyo...i'd be pretty suspicious about any of their parts.

I'd wait for someone to post that has actually purchased this set to chime in before I bought it. It seems like a deal considering it's about $150 less than an unorthodox kit. But the SR kit doesn't list a P/S pulley where the unorthodox includes that as well. Anyway, heads up.

Their pulleys are not better or worse than anyone else's. What you need to ask yourself is "why" do you need/want pulleys? There is a downside to pulleys which may or may not be a good thing for your use. Using a larger accessory pulley and/or smaller main pulley underdrives the accessory. This can cause a few things to happen:

1. Less effective A/C
2. Less alternator power
3, Less power steering assist
4. Less coolant flow

Now, there are some benefits:

1. Less coolant flow helps reduce cavitation at higher rpms
2. Underdriving the other accessories allows the car to regain some power

IMO, unless you are building a track car, don't use underdrive pulleys. If you are removing the airpump, just use one of the airpump removal pulley kits.

What SR is referring to about the belt slipping has to do with removing the airpump. With the airpump gone, simply using a smaller belt doesn't provide good contact with the water pump. This can cause the belt to slip turning the water pump at higher rpms, thus slowing and/or stopping your coolant flow. To counter this, airpump removal kits use a slightly larger alternator and water pump pulleys to increase the contact and remove the possibility of slipping.

there are also some other problems that can arrise with changing you pullys. there is, if airpump is eliminated , some belts that dont offer proper tension. aka, greddy. there is also some people swearing up and down that changing the underdrive pully, can be very hasardous. as it can throw off alot of internal parts, if not done very very carefully, causing detonation. i think i have a thread saves somewhere about this..
