Question Has anyone gone stand alone with PFS purple?

I had gotten PFS purple with ACQ software, and it says you can go stand alone with it, as long as you use the software. Has anyone tried this? Has anyone used the ACQ software before who knows how to use it well. It had came pretuned, so I do not want to try to tune it untill I know what I am doing.

According to the ACQ manual you can use the PFS as a stand alone. One advantage would be that you could still use your A/C. I am trying to find someone who has used, or uses the ACQ software, and would have some maps.

There was/is a Big List member, Wade Lantham (sp?), that I remember was fiddling with this feature some, but he's the only one I know of to really do anything with it. I un-subscribed from the Big List a number of months ago so I have no idea what's going on over there anymore. My bud Chris was going to eventually get around to messing with it as well, but his motor blew (surprise) and has since decided to sell the car. At any rate, from my understanding it's still essentially a piggyback unit in that the stock ecu is used to control the accessories (hvac, abs,et cetera), but the EFI is solely used for ignition/fuel control. Also I believe the adjustable parameters are in smaller increments as well allowing finer tuning.

Yes, Wade is the one.

Check out his site for the FAQs and info on the EFI (PMC)

Check out the above web pages, I updated them just a couple of days ago. I'll give you the abbreviated version.

Yes, the PMS is capable of operating standalone. However, the current RX-7 chipset lacks some features that would make S/A mode practical. Specifically, air and water temp compensation maps need to be added (these already exist in some other model PMS units). If more people wanted to use the S/A feature, then EFI would probably make an update with more features. I'm the only person who has used it on the RX-7 that I know of, I used it with larger injectors for appx. 4 months before switching back to piggyback mode and stock injectors.

About all it would be useful for right now is overriding the rev limiter.
