This car is a contradiction to me. I always found it strange and disappointing. Why spend so much on the body and rims then not spend a little more to just paint out the engine bay and do some proper detailing...its almost a hack job.

That engine bay may look like crap, but the intercooler is awesome. That intercooler has been around for years. Also that is the intercooler that grenade uses on their d1 fd. Here is a comparison with the HKS VMIC, GReddy FMIC, and a (GREDDY MAYBE) SMIC.

The GReddy SMIC with the metal 'ducting' plate is a bit of a joke and I wouldn't be surprised if the stock SMIC with duct outperforms it. However, the HKS V-mount is nice. As you said, it has been around for years. It is actually listed on NOPI's web site. Cost is about $2.3k or so. I'd love to be able to rationalize buying one, but I can't.

I would love to buy one, but I'm deciding to save up and get a knight sports vmic, since it comes with a racing radiator, and all the mounts or what not. The HKS vmic is more for someone who is running a single. I dislike the battery position, and would rather not relocate. Relocating destroys bins!

Yes, but I use that bin for my registration and stuff. It has a lock! HAHA! I don't know, I guess I just love my bins. They remove a lot of clutter from my interior. When ever I want to put something small away I use my bins. I store my ipod and cd face in my glove box, and I pretty much keep a lot of stuff hidden. I can't do much for my PFC though. The commander just sits under the radio in that empty compartment when the car is not in use. So people don't notice it.

Fast and the Furious really pisses me off. The director always says he wanted to capture the realism of street racing/drifting on film. None of the F&F's have come close to capturing what really happens on the street.

those couplers give room for expansion on the pipes. less likely to blow off.

incase you guys are wondering. the idle was probably a mix of 10 different idles of cars.
most car sounds in films are inserted and mixed, not taken directly from the microphone.

justin lin took a failing franchise and turned it the right way, while keeping a mildly entertaining, easy to follow story. Its just a movie, if u guy swant realism go watch drift videos on you tube...geez.

yea, of course. and americas the perfect place for it. its just funny how everyones complaining about a dirty engine bay. The car was used as a stunt car for the movie, I dont think anyone cared what the engine bay looked like as long as the car preformed fine. Their original intent was the crush the cars after the movie was made anyways.

It is very unrealistic to expect a movie production to build the car inside and out to a high degree of polish. The movie director and production company looks at the car as a prop, the same as they look at the interior sets they build. You don't actually believe the room that a scene is shot in is an actual room in an actual house do you? For the most part, they are shabby wood facades built to just look the part since after the movie they will be torn down and it's cost effective. The same goes for the car, they built it to look good on the outside so they can film it. Hell, its amazing enough that they even put any mods in the engine bay given they didn't film it.
