Question Has anyone ever tried to interchange pass. side oem leather seats to drivers side ?

Just curious. I know the two are of different configuration, but it doesn't look like it would be toooooo far off ?? Anyone ever try ?

I just got an extra set of covers and may try and see what happens. If not, I'll just swap them out normally as this second set is in better shape anyway (driver's side).

I looked at that a long time ago, but never physically moved them since the sealbelt holders and seat back lever would be on the wrong side, as I recall.

Holy ****... I thought I was the only one!

They aren't really interchangeable as there are little differences where the outside plastics are... And the seatbelt holder as already stated.

Yes it can be done!

I've done it...I had a sparco seat but ended up selling it. I had already sold my drivers seat so all I had was a passenger seat. My buddy had a passenger seat sitting around so I took it off his hands. It does need some modification. You have to swap out the rails...they will bolt right on. You will have to cut out about an inch and a half chunk of metal out of one of the metal connecting plates. Those are the side plates that bolt the actual seat portion to the rest of the seat. Anyways I can't remember which side it was but you'll know when you're doing it. If it was'nt for that they would be perfectly interchangeable. Hope this helps a little.

Sorry people, I should Clarify what I was trying to get at. I was talking about just changing the OEM leather seat Covers........not the actual seats. Specificaly, the lower driver's seat cover with the passenger's lower seat cover. Perhaps even doing the upper covers as well. I'll keep you all posted on what I end up doing.

I believe the seats themselves are identical, the plastics are just aesthetic pieces that cover the metal hingepoint brackets and associated mechanisms. Once you remove all the bracketry and levers the seats covers and cushions should be the same. It's been a while since I looked at stock seats, but I've changed mine out for sparco's and both of my stockers were trashed.

That's also what I was referring to. As far as size and shape, they are nearly identical.. however the cutout for the plastics on the lower part is different as well as the seatbelt holder.. I'm sure with a little tweaking, they'll go just fine. I never got around to actually trying to do it.. Got sidetracked LOL

I'm confused why there wouldn't be a market for Japanese owners to want to buy our passenger seats and us, purchasing japanese passenger seats.... since we both use the other side, and I can't imagine that they're different from the Japanese seats...

I just redid my seats with new skinz and you think both seats look identical but they are far from it. Especialy the bottom half of each seat. By mistake i put the pass. side bottom skin on the Driver side and it was all messed up. The left side hump looked liked it was to small for the leather skin and there was alot of excess, and the right side was to tight. (on the left it looked like a pillow to small for the pillow case , and on the right it looked like a matress being forced into a pillow case)
