I know the FD already comes with power door locks, but I mean has anyone ever installed a kit that will allow the driver, to unlock and lock the doors with a remote?

I will be very interested to see how this turns out. My car had keyless entry installed by the previous owner. Unfortunately, unlocking the door sets off the factory alarm!

Have keyless Viper Alarm. Went through 4 different actuators to find proper one. Had to trim alittle of the plastic of the speakers moulding to house the actuator. Its a combination of placement of the actuator and power of the actuator itself. If you've got some time and some patience you can get it to work.

the reason why im asking i beause my passengers side door locks are really notchy u gotta play with it to get it to work( although it does work), id rather have keyless entry so I dont have to mess with this anymore u kno wat I mean?? lol

installing keyless is a pain in the *** whichever way you go about it, the cleanest way is to get the JDM passenger side latch/lock assembly that has the actuator built inside, but then the wiring and other hubbub is a pita

When I bought my car someone had put a aftermarket alarm and keyless entry in it and....it just didn't work well. The worst thing was the alarm automatically locked the doors about 1 minute after starting the car. So I found myself LOCKED OUT OF MY RUNNING CAR on a couple of occasions, so that was the END of that ****!

Every one I've seen doesn;t even set the factory alarm unless you use the key as well.. try unlocking it with the key, then setting it with the remote...

^ for that problem you can just have the aftermarket keyless brain send a signal to the factory alarm to tell it that its unlocked, or what i did was just unplug one of the harnesses at the driver's side kick panel and all is well, didn't seem to lose any functionality yet...

When i bought my car, it came with an alpine unit (dont know what model but ill check for you if you really want) that i can control both locks with one button.

I can also hit another button that will bring both windows up, then lock the doors the doors at the same time. Its a cool feature.

Cause idk if you noticed but its hard to close our driver door with both windows already up. Its because of the locked air inside the car or something along that nature so my alarm system lets me have the windows down. Then i can get out of the car, close the door normally, hit the button and both windows will go right up and lock both doors.

Stay with the stock setup. Modding the doors up for keyless is asking for trouble

the more I think about it , I am not liking the idea of adding aftermarket solenoids to make the power door locks lol Also , I realize that they may not be very good quality, and may cause me more trouble in the future. I think Ill just wait for now , and eventualy replace both door locking assemblies when I can afford it

I have door poppers in my rx7, cause the punk before me broke both door handles, and it was cheaper to do door poppers. I fiberglassed the door pieces now...

IIRC, some aftermarket lock solenoids have been noted to be too powerful, and, therefore, break some of the fragile FD door-opening/lock mechanism components.

Adams auto sound and glass installed my alarm here in Brookfield, WI. I have had it for about a year now and have not noted any problems with the lock solenoid wrecking anything, i can still lock unlock the doors fine through the factor locking thing. He installed the actuator underneath the window controls on the drive side so now the controls stick up a bit more than from the factory but eh you can't really notice it unless you look really hard.

As far as the factory alarm; i had big problems at first cause the two alarms were interfering with each other. I would disarm the new alarm which would unlock the doors but after i opened the door it would trigger the factory alarm, so I took it back to the shop that installed the alarm and he cut the factory alarm wire, or something similar to that. That took him about 20 minuets to fix and its been fine since.

I have a Clifford 2 way pager alarm system and if I'm feeling risky one day it has a built in remote start (obviously) and turbo timer, so i might hook that up too.

Any good Alarm shop can install actuators for the doors. It cost me about 60 bux and they put in a switch which locks/unlocks the doors on the center console. Keyless entry with a Clifford Matrix alarm.

I installed a wireless remote system about a year ago, no problems. I did have to trim a little bit off the drivers side bin to make room for the actuater and receiver. I ran a wire directly from the battery connection through the door jam into the door. I had to deactivate the stock alarm, as it would go off, the computer sensed that the car was being broken in too. The easiest way to get around this is to ground the hood switch wire up front, this fools the stock security system into thinking the hood is up, therefore no arming the alarm.

I have one that's done real nicely... it has a relay for the door, so that it arms and disarms the Stock Security system, as well right at the point that you disarm the system, it thinks you put the key in and unlocked it... Upon locking it takes 10-15 Sec for the stock security system to come online... it gives you a little beep and the stock security light in the center console lights up... If someone is real hard up for a how to... I'd be willing to take some pics... but it's a PITA to remove the door skin just for pics... for someone else

The door actuators have to be tied into the rods, if they actuate upon the plastics you have the issue of breaking things.... I ended up wearing one out, and had to replace it, that's how I know how it all had to go back together, since I had to figure out how it worked in the first place

I had a new actuator installed at Circuit City. I bought the car with an aftermarket alarm but it wasn't hooked up to the door lock. Initially, they said they didn't know where to put the actuator as there was very limited space and recommended I take it to the dealership. I then sent them over a few pics of how other people have installed it from the forum and they (Circuit City) were able to do it with no problems. It works perfectly fine now. Here's an example:

I'm not sure exactly what cofiguration they went with for my car as I wasn't there for the install but you get the idea. Show them how others have done it and they can do it for you the same way.
