Has anyone converted 93 A/C to 94+ 134 A/C?
I heard that it's a simple fitting conversion and to make sure that the old A/C is out before u add the 134.
Compressor and collector the same?

I was actually contemplating asking a similar question as I wasn't sure if the FD's were R134 or R12. So the '93's are R12 and (most) of the 94-95's are R134? Besides ebay, anyone know where to pick up R12? My A/C is warmer than my armpit and I keep it running quite a bit to keep the fan going. Thanks.

no the 94-95 comperssor inlet lines are MUCH larger than the 93, you cannot swap them out.
you can do a simple convert, drain fill, little adaptor kit, it works fine. if you wanted to use the R134a compressor you would need all new lines and even new condesnor dryer etc. or you could do some welding fabrication, but its not safe i hear to weld A/c lines.

my mechanic converted my work car over for me (90 CRX). he said that he just doesn't put as much pressure on the system with the R134. It works just fine and seems real cold. Of course any air seems ice cold compared to non at all....

i was looking at one of the conversion kits.
just seems to be a fitting.
i know the r12 is colder, but since i need to charge it up, i found the cost is mucho $$$$.

my AC has never been charged and it is still ice cold, will freeze you right out of the car
not bad for 12 years old (my car was built in '92)
btw, anyone know where you can get R12 besides Ebay, just for future reference? thanks

I heard from my mechanic that the FD uses a closed system. R12 should never have to be charged. If its not cold anymore, it means that the fluid is leaking out somewhere which can equal $$$

I just refilled my R12 and have a leak...
Anybody know where common leak areas are?
I have a 94 manufactured in 08/93...

You can easily find r12 everywhere, but you have to be licensed to get it. There is a web site that offers the training and test for like $15 then you can get r12 just about anywhere.
Ebay doesnt always work either, my friend tried to sell a can of r12 but ebay took down his auction. I think he could have gotten away with it if he included in the terms of his auction that the buyer must be licensed.
Best thing is probably Mexico. You can still get it there and bring it over the border. Just hide it under the seat or something
