INDEED man, I never plan on driving the -7- on michigan winter roads EVER again. The IRONIC part was that I was 4 DAYS away from storing the FD for the winter!! They hadnt even started salting the roads yet!!

But yea sounds like you have relocated to a better location for raising RX7s, i envy you.. Michigan is so cold!

Also I just want to thank the rest of you for your advice, again. It sounds like if I just try to deal with Progressive fairly, I don't let them rush me, and I just try and make sure I allow myself time to evaluate all the facts and figures then it will all end well *knocks on wood*.

I hope to make this into a learning experience in which I learn more about my car, and I plan on logging a LOT more track time to explore the FD's capabilities.
I do plan on getting another -7- if my current one is a "total loss", but regardless of weather or not that happens I will always remember my White 94 FD and the three short months we had together..
I may replace but I WILL NOT forget...

Dan

I just have one question. What happened to the copy of "Spaceballs"? I hope it is alright.... That is a classic too and needs to be well protected at all times

actually I am glad you are both OK! Mother nature is a bitch and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I live in FL and while we don't get ice, we get lots of rain. I don't even think about driving hard in those conditions. It just isn't worth it with these cars. Not saying you were, just that I know how easy it is for these cars to let go in the wrong conditions.

btw, I have been trying to get my friend Bryan to go as Dark Helmet for Holloween for the last 5 years. He is about the same height as Rick Moranis and that would be one of the funniest costumes ever. too bad he is lame.

I hope he gets someone better to "negotiate" with.
When people ask for advice, they hope that others will give them "good" information. Most people have the enough common sense to keep their mouths shut when they don't know what they are talking about. Obviously that is not the case with you.

On behalf of everyone here on the forum, please don't give out advice when you don't know. Someone might actually listen to you, then they would be screwed, and it would be your fault.

My question is would any of you out there fix it ? Its fixable! it didnt hit anything other than a mailbox.Yes it rolled but its all sheetmetal damage. There is no major impact whatsoever the passenger pillar is down {the worst of it } the rest is not severe. A roll is alot different than hitting another car or tree etc. unless of course its a high speed roll . You can sneeze on the fd and it will bend. Im not telling you to fix your car, hell Michigan might not even issue a title that allows you to ever drive it on the street again but if they did you could take your insurance $ and really build a fd to your expectations. I have repaired a few fd,s and im currently in a cym r1 but the daily driver is a tundra . Anyways you usually have some hidden damage but a passenger door/fender bumpercover,s passenger quarter panel / taillight windshield /hatch glass roof skin and and probably a few other nic nacs and she,s going again . You can get everything to repair it right here on the forum . Its totaled from a money stand point but very fixable. The frame damage {or twist being rolled} is minimal if any at all .Yes its fixable If bodyshops in your area are afraid of it and your concidering it pm me and i will hook you up with someone who has fixed several fd,s including a few for me . Sounds crazy right !! Well good luck in whatever direction you go with your car and its good to hear you came out of this mishap safely.

Yep, car looks pretty fixable to me too. But that's just a view from the outside.

You're right, I'm shamed! Since you have appointed yourself speaker of this forum of experts I want to apologize to you personally. I hope that you recover quickly from any insult on your intelligence from my clear lack of common sense. I'll try to limit myself to the lounge, if you'll permit me, so that I won't screw anyone. MODS please sticky this so everyone will know that my opinion is worth ZERO. Now if you'll excuse me, I must run out and flog myself.

adam c...

Hostility isn't nice. And please don't tell someone they should be driving a different type of car, that's very rude...especially since this is his first accident, and of course we all know 7's are the WORST in wet weather (low weight, no traction control, turbos, etc.).

That goes for anyone who wasn't jokingly implying so.

Why do you people have to flame everyone. Back off, yes Dan made a mistake; he is new to a rear drive car that can get away from you real fast in the wet. I have ended up facing the wrong way a few times myself. I would say “flame on” if he was street racing and killed someone.

Adam C- Back off just a little, yes someone made an unfounded statement about how much the insurance company will give, but who knows he might be right. I had a friend who had his brand new TA stolen three weeks after he got it. He paid 32 plus tax, and they offered him 25. He got 27 out of them and that’s it, he had to pay the remaining balance out of his pocket. It will be interesting to see what they offer Dan.

Yes people make false statements on this forum, that’s why you have to learn to sort through the garbage.

Sorry, I don't think that it is OK for someone to "guess" about this. If the guy were to take his advice, and accept 15k for his car, that would cost him thousands of dollars. I don't think that's right.

I am right about this, and I'm not the one you should be critical of.
