Check your brake fluid level.

mine did the same - it was more of a cable issue than anything else. The brake handle would "float" up when I hit the gas hard, which would, in turn, turn the brake light on. Strangely enough, after I replaced the rear pads, it stopped happening (maybe because there's less slack in the hand brake line because the brake piston is pushed out more?)

I'll second the brake fluid level response. The same thing had happened to me when my brake pads were pretty well worn and my brake fluid level was low as a result. When I changed my brake pads the fluid level was back where it should have been and no more brake light upon acceleration
