Exhaust Flame Bumper Protection

Ok, does anyone know what it is I am talking about? I have only seen it once in a photo. Basically it looks like a piece of metal that sticks to your bumper right above the exhaust. It protect your rear bumper from melting when you shoot flames.

Is this something that can be bought or was it fabbed?

thanks again.

I know what you are talking about. I saw one on a Japanese rx7 but it was carbon fiber. Looked really mean

dont they sell those at autozone in the ricer section?

no joke, last time i was in autozone to get some anti-freeze, i walked passed the ricer isle, and i saw them. they are like 4 or 5 inch wide shiny metal plates, that stick on to your bumper right above where ur exhaust tip is right?

i have also seen a few cars around my town that have them, but i dont know why, they didnt seem to need them.... why not just wash your bumper more often? or u could always make one.

Because alot of people actually throw huge flames out of their exhaust which not only leaves more black sut than a normal honda with a muffler on it but can melt the bumper/clearcoat, etc..

ATTAIN in Japan sells them. I would contact Jason at JT Imorts or Inukai as they can get them for you.

Would be cool if AutoZone actually sells them...Unfortunately just washing the bumper doesn't fix melted plastic

Autozone would sell trendy ricer ones ... probably not very good quality. Plus the FD's bumper near the exhaust has some strange shapes and curves, so those universal Honda types might not be very well suited.

You have a few options. You could just buy metal tape. Or you can make one and stick it on ... but I'm not sure what adhesive would be best, probably something like Goop. You could also make one and rivet it on. Or you could make one and ........ nah ..... I can't give away too much.

yeah, just get some thin sheet metal and mold it to shape. Or you can make one of carbon fiber and mold that on too.

For FDs with midpipes, its a semi-needed item more than a fashion statement. My bumpers rear paint looks all funky and dark now.

do you mean something like this

http://silverfd.efiunlimited.com/cf2/PC120002.jpg
http://silverfd.efiunlimited.com/cf2/PC120005.jpg

http://silverfd.efiunlimited.com/CF/...shield0004.jpg
http://silverfd.efiunlimited.com/CF/...shield0006.jpg

Note: They still have to be trimmed to shape (the first one I cut out was pretty screw up hehe but its ok) and yes I made those These might be for sale soon but I'm not sure.

here is the web site for the only other place i could find that made these http://www.ksp-eng.co.jp/ATTAIN/menu2/5.html

Note: The price is about 12,000-24,000yen which is about 120-240 bucks US just about...

P.S. They must be attached with rivits cuz double sided sticky tape will not work (actually it will stay on there but it kinda looks like *** since the double sided sticky tape makes it bump/stick out a bit)

Yeah but then when you have that plate on there, the rest of the paint will fade normally over time, but if you take it off, it'll look fugly.

Just make sure you're gonna keep the midpipe setup for good if you do that.

the only one I have seen on here is a dude with an ORANGE 7 and it was pretty damn sweet looking...I don't think his was carbonfiber but more of a polished or brushed aluminum look. Dude with the ORANGE 7 where are you and where did you get your bumper guard cuz I want one too!

stevecod's got what you are referring to on his badass FD. Here is a link with some pics that show his bumper and his new FEED rear spoiler/wing.
