Had some left-over adhesive gold heat shielding...

...so I did the underside of my UIM!

I only had about 1' x 1' left from when I did my intercooler end tanks.

I figured the bottom of the UIM would be a good place to use it. Now I just need one of those turblown LIM blanket shields...

Just thought I would share.

Cheers!

one...

two...

three...(ran out)

ooo shiny!

uim re-installed

Thomas, I may be copying you on this particular venture, old chap. You can get this stuff through Summit Racing correct?

yes indeed rich. pegasus has it also.

i would say, for the UIM you probably want a a 12" x 18" piece to do the whole underside & throttlebody.

woah that's nice.

the only thing about something like that - would heat get trapped between the blanket and the manifold?

with the stick-on shielding, there are no gaps...

not sure if that makes a difference. i guess that looks pretty snug though.

either wya, that is one SEXY *** wrap-around blanket though map props to you.

how about you send me one to test out???

It's looking good, next time I have my UIM I'll be doing the same. For now I've already got some gold in engine bay as well:

Theorie said that he noticed about 10 degrees drop in intake temps. I had a chance to touch the tape after its been driven for a while. The IC was hot as hell but the tape stayed very cool.

Thanks for the pegasus link. I'll be ordering a bunch! If anyone from NJ wants to get in on this I'll order for them and we can split the shipping. You just have to pick it up from my place. Im in Northern Jersey, Bergen county. I'll be ordering on tuesday or wednesday.

yeah i still get pretty bad heat soak on my LIM due to no heat shield on the turbos.

hopefully this helps the UIM stay a little cooler.

one step at a time...haha

I dont blame you lol, i have to fight for my spot too. I'll be awaiting your results, also I agree on the LIM blanket, I'm considering one too. My UIM has nothing under it now and my IAT sensor is moved to the elbow so there not much to heat soak.

the problem with the blanket is that the freaken turbos have to come out to put it on, or pull the engine.. these are reasons i really wish i went single instead of the bnr stage 3s.

It was amazing feeling the difference of Tom's intercooler pipes and intercooler end tanks. I am going to be using a bunch of this when my stuff is apart. G

On the underside of the UIM where that sensor screws in with the blue plug... Thats the Air intake temp sensor correct? Sorry for the hijack on the Thread but I keep mixing the connectors up and I have not seen my car in 6 months... Broke a connector on the harness but I think it was the one for the ICS which should be the one on the backside of the UIM between it and the firewall...
