guys with vented hoods

What kind of temp differences should I expect to get out of a vented hood? Does anyone have any data comparison for daily driving and race driving temps?

I saw a thread about this eariler, the guy did some tests and he drove to work (forgot how many miles he said it was) with the stock hood on and the next day the air temp was the same (in the 70's i think) so he switched hoods and he said the water temp was like 4 lower then stock... But i'm not sure on the numbers. i just remember vents didn't do as much as i thought they would.

Try searching.

Yeah I read the same thread, it was the only one I found so I was hoping for some new input on the subject.

I road race usually on a very tight course in the D/FW TX area, in the summer I had a lot of overheating problems. I installed a custom aluminum radiator and made my own custom ducting so that all air goes through the radiator/IC. This helped but I still had some over heat issues that forced me to turn on the heater on a 105F day. After puting the vented hood on I have not had any over heat problems, I have data logged and see approximately 15-25 cooler under race conditions.

i don't know about the temp difference, but with the vented hood, after a hard run on my car, i can touch the m2 med ic and its cold. when i had stock hood, the ic would be heatsoaked. i very happy with my vented hood.

Yeah, I heard that they help out a ton. I'm looking into getting one soon.

I don't how much of a difference it makes but I know for sure it a hell better than the stock hood and when I open the vented hood I notice that the engine have less heat and some spots is cooler than when I have my stock hood on. For example after a run and when I park my car I can see tons of heats escaping, imagine what it will be like when the stock heats would kept those heats in the engine bay so in turns you can't go wrong with the vented hood especially with our rotary engine.
