Guess what I made today..Cwest Undertray

Look what I made using valuable company time :P
I've been working on it for awhile.
Finally got one cut out of the material I wanted. Test fitting tonight / tomorrow.
I'll let you know how it fits. The protos were a pretty good fit.
Then I'll have to test it out on the street.

I'm trying different materials. Wanted to check the weight, rigidity, heat resistance.
Only paid for the substrate.

This one is ABS.
Trying to keep it simple. I made this one to fit over the stock tray using additional hardwares.

It is to reduce the air turbulance under the car, which improves areodynamics and hopefully downforce as well. this will allow a higher top speed and better handling at higher speeds in general.

I want one! So are you gonna mass produce them? How about a midsection panel to cover between your peice and the RE Amemiya rear diffuser? I'll contribute funds for R&D if you help make me one!

IMO I don't think this piece is going to do that. It's just flat and will go over the stock tray....I don't get...But it looks nice!

I'm kinda with the last 2 guys...It looks good. Just don't really see it having any benefit over stock. How is it better than the stock tray? Because its totally flat?

This is for Cwest N1 front bumper. It will completely cover over the front portion of the car.
Anyone here that has a Cwest N1 front bumper knows the stock undertray does not match the bumper. I thnk there is a pic floating around here of the Cwest version.
Someone else here is making a undertray for the stock bumper. My undertray will not work with stock bumper.

I have plans on adding additional side brackets to mount the unit directly to the chasis and help guide air flow to my Koyo radiator.

I believe this is the pic you were refering to?

As for airflow, I believe if this is done right (ie connected to a complete underbody tray that will extend the full length of the vehicle, w/ loading ramps, starting before the middle of the vehicle, and mating w/ the RE diffuser), then you have a very functional undertray that should decrease lift under the car.

But even w/o such a design, just sealing the engine bay from underneath and having a vented hood should force more air through the radiator, forcing it to enter the engine bay and exit up through the hood vents, thereby reducing underhood temps, vs. entering through the nose and going right back out under the car (if you did not have an undertray). Damian also pointed out that if you extend the undertray past the oil pan, the air would be forced to pass by the oil pan before escaping, probably helping to reduce oil temps a bit.

FDNewbie has some good points, I can't use my stock under tray due too a large custom rad. I am working on getting one made that will fit. I will try to get it to go past the oil pan.

I didn't cover the oil pan cuz it would be a hassle having to take off the tray to change your oil.
