Guaging interest on CF pieces for our interiors!

Ok guys, the girlfriend and I are thinking of making some nice new, never made (to our knowledge) carbon fiber pieces.

We are thinking of making complete replacements for the doors, quaterpanel pieces, speaker covers, divider, and possibly the bins.

The bins would probably not be functional, instead would be like a panel back there, we could possibly make a workable bin.

As you know, making molds isn't cheap, so we want to guage the interest to see if anyone would be interested in buying these pieces. We're talking maybe $400-500 for both door panels. The panels would fully replace, not overlay the factory ones. However it will not have the black plastic pieces, such as the handle and windowswitch thingy.. lol

Since nobody to my knowledge makes complete replacements instead of overlays, we're trying to see if anyone would be interested. SO now you can have a complete CF interior.

well it would be a complete replacement, not an overlay.. so it would be a lot lighter. but yes it will have hardener and resin on it to make it hold shape and stay shiney.

maybe able to make a CF cover for the throttle body.. lots of little crap to work around.. but anything can be done.. but for now we're going to focus on the interior.. and giving acutal weight savings. Prolly have something for you all to see in a month or 2.

I'd be a little careful in cases of side impact. If the cf isn't strong enough it'll shatter and send carbon splinters in toward the pass compartment. Maybe not as big a deal to racers who wear race suits and helmets... bigger deal to short & t-shirt wearing commoners like us

not trying to rain on your parade but you may want to do some impact testing before selling or at least put some heavy disclaimers on the backside of the panel.

We NEED a real deal, full replacement for all the plactic dash panels(drivers door plactic, gauge cluster, HVAC control surround, center console, passenger door plactic). Mine, like many, are starting to peel. Maybe make a CF center console with the A/C relocation already completed, that would rock.

well for those wanting some CF interior pieces..try out www.carbonfiberparts.net, he already makes a good amount of things.. just trying to make some things that nobody has made yet..

Stan94GT- i'll make sure to do that.. i'm sure i'll be putting a disclaimer on whatever i make.. people could cut themselves on butterknives if people didn't put dislcaimers on them...

that piece looks horid...doesn't fit well at all.. as well as some blemishes..

i don't plan on making anything like that...

as for GoRacer.. i'd need to make molds.. ie i'd have to have the originals... if you want a copy, i need an original..

theres this company from asia. they over price everything though. even on the hoods its over priced. ahha its crazy. but yeah maybe some stuff like they have. but at a more reasonable price. plus the door panels would be great.

A DIN panael like the 3-gauge SAAB or a DIN panel that would hold the screen and buttons for the PFC commander would be tight.

twinturborx7pete,

At www.carbonfiberparts.net, he just overlay the carbon fiber on the part. We are thinking about the whole carbon fiber peices, not overlay. And, your est. prices seem more reasonable than others, I'd buy your parts.

I would be very interested in some CF pieces. I also would like the center plastic piece replaced with cf. Mine is all cracked and crappy. Get back to us all.
