Grounding/Hyperground Question?

Alright Hyperground claims they use 99.99% copper and its the best conductor (actually Gold is better ). Anyways is there ANY difference in their copper and the copper I would buy at Radio shack which I could make a kit for ALOT cheaper??

I used 4ga welding ground. Works very well and it's cheap.

It's a friggin' ground man, not an audiophile interconnect cable. Just get some 4-8 gauge wire.

Garfinkle uses 1-0 welding cable from the battery out , pos and neg . He has sold some sets for $20 with hand made ends to fit .He also changes the wire from the alt to the fuse block,4 gauge for that .

um actually if im not mistaken, isnt copper more conductive than gold??? the reason they use gold is cause it doesnt corrode like copper.... and i think silver is ever more conductive than copper. i guess thats my "final answer" ...if im remembering this wrong someone correct me... it been a few years... -heath

I also thought Cu was a better conductor....

Conductivity of Cu, Au, Ag

Cu=Electrical Conductivity (sigma)
59610000 /ohm.m

Au=45210000 /ohm.m

Ag= 63010000 /ohm.m

You do the math.

Remember, the bottom line here is that you're trying to eliminate high resistance in any ground path to prevent ground loops (voltage differences between different ground points). The difference in resistance for these short lengths between 4-ga and 8 or 12-ga is not significant except for very high-current paths.

Go to a circuit city they will have specific ground wire you can use which is made for high powered amps (any gauge you want). Get the gold fittings that are for grounding amps. It will probably be cheaper than buying a kit.

Just buy some speaker wire, and some ring terminals, i used marine ones since they wont corrode, after i did the grounding, 5 spots on the engine,including one that went to the negative battery terminal, i noticed no more hesitation or breakup at 14 psi. This is running very rich untuned. From my understanding grounding the exhaust near the o2 sensor helps as well.

duboisr...I used to have a theory that Garfinkle was this imaginary character that you just made up or something. Or that he is superman and you are Clark Kent...
BTW just in case he is worried at all which I'm sure he's not, I am still waiting on my uim to get back to me from being polsihed and thats why I haven't contacted him about the 2nd half of parts for the toque brace. My name is Patrick Kenney

Gold (AU) is most conductive.
Silver (AG) is next most conductive.
Copper (CU) is third.

Copper is the cheapest and that is why it is used in wiring more than the others.

Ever used solid silverware to stir a cup of hot coffee??

Silver is the most conductive.

Personally I just use the stock grounds + an additional ground from negative terminal to shock tower. Never had any issues.

Any good hardware store will have what you need. Elliots Hardware in the Dallas area even has all kinds of different colors to match your motor color scheme. No need for a kit. I spent like 20 bucks and got more than I needed. Wire and connectors. Just cleaning your existing grounds may solve your problems.

Anyway this topic has been discussed in depth several times. Search for some old threads using "hyperground".

I really do not think these amount of grounds are totally excessive.

Use a multimeter and ohm out the engine bay - you will then see what I mean.

Most likely any problem "fixed" existed in a pre-existing ground point.
