That's because there's no place to bolt it in.

When he origianlly installed the pan and o-ring, did your friend coat the o-ring in vaseline? The o-ring will soak up the vaseline and expand slightly to better fill the channel. Just a thought....

I knew a girl like that in high school!

If I recall they offered the option to put a bung for the sensor, but ran into some kind of problem. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. (And I know one of you fawkers will.) :P

I guess you just use your dipstick, which reminds me of another girl I knew.
Or ESP or something?

That one has runners for both side and peripheral ports. I would expect it to flow more if you have your engine setup with both.

Ok guys, Ralph does have a business number now. (He's no longer with GZ motorsports, but reopend under his old company name.) The number is 503-808-0803. He has a web page up but its just in the beginings. WWW.Xcessivemotorsports.com. I'm shure he's been realy busy setting up a new shop and stuff, and thats why you don't see alot of him on the forum.

When $$ allow it, I'll be purchasing a LIM and doing (hopefully) a back to back comparison on his dyno. When my motor is pulled out for a refresh I'll be putting on a oil pan too. I think its damn cool that there are people out there that will still make products for a car thats 10+yrs old. CJ

here's my mechanic installing that pan during my engine build...he didn't use the stock motor mounts, due to the pan sitting so low.

Talking

Do you have experience with other brand name beer bottles. I wonder if a Miller will hold the pan up as well???

there are no leaks with this pan, a little tricky to get the o-ring in the groove, because the groove winds around.

This pan will support any two bottles or cans of beer

This may be a silly question but is there any *easy* way to extend the stock/bnr turbo manifold to make it work with this lim?

whoa tiger...

we raised the motor a hair, so it wouldn't hang down too low. Yes, it has an o-ring...as stated before. It seals up just nice, as stated before. Capacity, we'll this was on an R1 (dual oil coolers) with braided oil lines...so it holds a lot more oil than stock with no braid lines and one oil cooler. I'll see about getting that number too.

Pros...

when rebuilding the motor, it's real easy to clean the sealant or gasket material off the bottom of the irons and housings, because there is none.

it's a lot thicker than the POS stocker...so, torque specs on the motor mounts and oil pan fasteners won't create leaks...fawking mazda engineering.

of course...more oil is more cooling capacity

Cons...

you have to mount your own level sensor

you have to have an allen wrench to change your oil, but you can change it from either side of the car

what would you do if you want to replace the pan with the engine still in the car. same as resealing the pan or are you gonna have to modify the mounts and pipe alignment cause of the extra thickness. maybe shave the mounts if you have urethane or solid mounts to make up for the extra thickness? I read somewhere you got a minor extra thickness with this pan. anyone?
