Ground Cable Catalytic Converter

I just realized the small ground cable that clips onto the rear of the main cat has broken off. Just wondering what this cable is grounding, and if it's anything important or not.

It may reduce the 3000 rpm stumble if you have that in your car. It's been mentioned that making sure all ground points are in good shape (including the exhaust) is important to that improve on that problem.

it's where the cat-back connects to the cat. It is held on by the bolts that bolt the cat and the cat back together.
