When the power locks unlock driver side door I hear this grinding noise for 5 seconds. Still works fine but lits the oudest most annoying noise ever.

Any ideas what the problem is and if a noob that can follow instrucrtions well can fix it? or definitely mechanic only?

Probably the aftermarket lock actuator going bad.

 

Yeah, there is no driver side power lock in the car in stock form.

If your lucky it's the door solenoid, if your not it's destroying your door mechanicals. Most aftermarket alarm installers don't take the time to install the solenoid correctly and either the solenoid fails or it tears up the latch's and locking mecanisims.

 

well its been doing this sind january. So if it was destroying something it wouldn't working by now. So is this solenoid something the average guy can fix with some tools or is this a mechinics job?
