Greddy Stock Intercooler Pipe Questions

I have recently purchased a set of Greddy intercooler pipes for my stock intercooler. I'm having issues with fitment, and I'm wondering if something is wrong with my car. I have installed them, and re-installed them, and both times they fit fine. Here is the problem, after driving the car, the "S" pipe coming from the Y-pipe to the bottom of the intercooler, backs up, and comes into contact with the main pulley. I now have 2 small groves in my beautifully polished Greddy pipe.

I have heard of fitment issues with this kit, and I'm wondering if it's the kit, or my car. The reason I say this, my car has 91,000 miles on it. I know the engine mounts are old, and maybe they're flexing too much. So what do you guys think? Should I try triming the silicon couplers, or just leave the stock hoses on, and change my motor mounts? By the way the stock hoses seem fine.

Thanks for any insight,
Eric

my kit didnt fit very well at all..

i just coated the inside of the silicone couplers with a water/palmolive mix wich allowed the pipes to move easily inside them.

i jammed them in as far as they would go so they would clear the pulley.

tightened the hell out of them.. and voila.. no problems.

its not your car.. i think the s-pipe is meant for their stock i'c upgrade. they just too lazy to make two different pipes.

Q-ball thanks for the quick response. I can get the "S" pipe to fit properly, but after running the car the pipe slips back and hits the pulley. Maybe I'm not tightening them enough. Did you use standard clamps? Maybe I should try the Constant Torque Clamps.

i used the hose clamps that came with the kit.. and i tightened it as hard as i could. be careful as the hose clamps can break it you tighten it too much.

I have the Greddy piping kit with the stock intercooler, and my S pipe is REALLY close to the pulley, but it does clear. I've had mine on for almost 2 years with no problems, so I'd try the constant torque clamps and tighten them really well. Good luck!

Vintage red, are you using the clamps that came with the kit as well? I'm wondering if I just didn't tighten them enough, or if I have to adjust the Y-Pipe or something. After all when the motor is just at idle the kit fits perfectly, but moves after putting the car into boost.

I'm using the clamps that came with the kit, and I also have the eFini Y pipe, but I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I'd try tightening the clamps a little more, and if that won't work, upgrade to the Constant Torque Clamps.

Good luck!

Also make sure the IC is mounted correctly and the mounting brackets are tight, also I have heard that some people have had to trim the bottom coupler to bring the bottom of the 'S' closer to the IC. check all the coupler lengths and if there is a short one use it there.
