Lightbulb Greddy SMIC owners -- has anyone using a modified stock duct???

Have any of you Greddy SMIC owners modified the stock duct for use? Rather than trying to source a Pettit duct and then chopping it up or waiting for the various members who are in the process of fabbing one up, I was thinking about modifying the stock duct.

I noticed that the stock duct is about 3"x1" (H"xL") too small. I could possibly cut into the stock duct, and widen it by those dimensions. Has anyone tried this with any positive/negative results?

stock: 2.5x11.5x4.5 129 in^3
Greddy: 4x12.5x7.5 375 in^3

Sorry, the title should read: " Greddy SMIC owners -- anyone using a modified stock duct???". A little grammatical error there.:-D

I Have a shroud that sort of acts liek a duct to it. It basically keeps all the air form various entries to stay in the lower half of the car. Doesn't directly go to the SMIC but it doesn't flow aorund it its pretty much trapped to either go to my air filters or SMIC. check out pictures

Under the rotors are the filters, and you can see were the SMIC is. With the hood closed basically any air coming that comes in from the bumper wants to rise up yet can't spread around because of the metal plate so it has to either go to the Air filters or SMIC however it is not ram air. It gets good air but it has no duct that comes from a certain palce and directly directs it to the SMIC or Filters.

Interesting setup you have there. It seems that the setup that you have is better than no duct at all, but I would imagine that it would not function as well as a fitted duct.

Are those polished intake pipes off of ebay or somewhere else?
