GReddy fmic anyone with cooling problems

Well I am going to take the plung and buy an intercooler. For the money I dont think I can beat the greddy fmic, but I would like to know if anyone with it is happy with it and would they ever wish they got something else. Alsodo you have any cooling problem???

I have a friend who heavily tracks his car. He's using the Apexi FMIC. His car is basically all bolt-ons, streetport, at about 360rwhp (15 PSI). He said the only thing he would do differently is to use an ASP/M2 SMIC instead of his FMIC.

He's in the process of selling his FMIC to get an ASP SMIC.

I have sold hundreds of those intercoolers and have had no complaints. I wouldnt recommend it if you are going to track your car, but its fine for a street car.

Different question- What has happen to m2? Can i stil get a m2 med intercooler?

What I realy like about the fmic is that it looks cleaner under the hood.

I got the GReddy 2 row FMIC, i like it alot, no heating problem whatsoever. I am running a 2 row aluminum rad from cool radiator.
If i could do it again..i agree to go with ASP/M2 large SMIC, nice set up...but since i have the greddy i dont regret it, just more bling factor; like you said its a nice set up for price.

Mods: streetport, T04R, AEM

I had a GReddy FMIC on my T-78 Car.. it ran hot a lot, was not impressed by the front mount. If you do go with the FMIC make sure you make a custom aluminum duct from it to the radiator, as it is obvious that you are losing pressure across the FMIC. Air will take the path of least resistance, which is through the gaps your new FMIC and radiator placement has made.

Go for an APEXi FMIC, which doesn't block as much, so i hear or go with a SMIC or VMIC.

I have the V spec core from greddy and it works great. pushing 14 pounds and no detenation. Only thing that sucks is if you get the japan spec one, the piping that goes from the throttle body elbow to the second piece of piping hits the brake master cylinder. I had to cut a little bit of the piping. You will have to do a little cutting anway to get the piping to fit to the core. Worth it though man, looks mean too!

What do you guys consider overheating problem. We have installed the Greddy FMIC on probably 20-30 cars and the most we see on the power FC is around 90c. I dont consider that running hot.

I had and still have 2 row Greddy FMIC on one of my FD. I love the look of the FMIC and did have slight coolant problem. Like others mentioned, FMIC restricts a little with air flow and right in front of most radiator is the ac condensor, which will block it even more. With my new set up, I'll be running a duct to Radiator and also eliminating the AC system. But for the money, I think its a good choice. Also, since you have a PFC, find someone local with Datalogit and change the fan temp setting.

I think the most I ever saw was around 95c on a hot summer day, but I did have the fans set to come on sooner.
