Greddy BOV as replacement?

I'm thinking about installing a Type S BOV in place of the stock BOV, but I just realized that the Greddy unit vents to the atmosphere, and I was just thinking about how the stock BOV tends to spray oil when vented to the atmosphere...wil the Greddy unit have the same problem? Has anybody ever tried venting the BOV to the air box like the stock unit does (I have the M2 CAI).

Thanks for any insight and suggestions!

All the aftermarket units vent into the air. Why do you want to replace the stock unit only to vent it back into the airbox?

Unless the stock until is failing, you don't need to replace it with an aftermarket one unless you do want it to vent to air.

But yes, running the car hard on turns at a track will cause oil into the intake track and it will blow out of the bov's (even aftermarket ones).

My suggestion: Save your money to spend on something useful. BOV's make cool noises and all, but they're useless to upgrade unless as Mahjik suggested yours is failing or not up to the task.

I actually wanted the blow off sound from the Greddy units (I liked how it sounded on somebody's track RX-7), and I was able to pick a used one up for $100 bucks.

With my current setup, I have the stock BOV venting back into the M2 CAI, and it sounds pretty good, but I wanted something a little more obnoxious. There's always a bit of oil in the airbox coming out of the BOV outlet. I figure if the Greddy piece gets annoying enough, it'd be easy enough to ebay it.

=]

So basically I just need to learn to live with the light bit of oil that comes out of it?

Yep, or install an oil catch can which should help out.

Thanks for the info guys! Yeah I've been thinking of installing a catch can for the next track event in December, but the oil spilling simply hasn't been that bad for me yet, and I actually do like the idea of the engine/turbos getting extra oil in there anyway. (I'm probably not pushing the car THAT hard on the turns...)
