Listen I'm all about jumping in that shithole to defend my FD's.. but this point is this (and it's happening in this thread too..)

"my buddy" or "my friend" <---reads "i dont have any first hand experience myself but the internets says..." all hearsay;

what an i saying? ...yeah sure we all can sign up over there and pick at the faults of their cars and even dig up factual data supporting our cars over theirs, but this doesn't do any good. it'll never help them understand that "rotary just isn't that hard to deal with".

i say we let them continue to think rotaries are full of engine fires and bad apex seals, we surely don't need their stinky attitudes over here.

a 3 sec look on my personal history would show a number of high hp 4g63 engines.. and some of those were very, very nasty cars (meaning powerful). but it just took so much work to make them fast. personally i dont feel that way about the rotary - i dont think it takes as much effort to go just as fast.

i understand though, sometimes it's hard to ignore.
but one things for damn sure - our cars look helluva lot better than theirs!

I actually own both, a 93 RX7 R1 that I daily drove for two years and a 2005 STi. The STi has a rotated turbo kit and is only at just over 300 to the wheels and it burns more oil than my rx7 (stock). Also, if you ever sit in both cars the STi is clearly an econo car on steriods. It rattles and has a horrible feeling interior, especially compared to the rx7 that I've always thought felt really nice inside and it doesn't give you that tin can feel whenever you shut something.

I've read through a lot of the iwsti and nasioc stuff for learning about my car and it amazes me how much those people think their cars are worth. You'd think they were driving a four door porsche 911.

meh entertaining thread over there.

Didn't realize subi owners were such close minded individuals though. As someone said earlier, they completely ignored the couple of posts that had true information on them and just focused on spelling errors. Sheesh... Not really sure why anyone bothers to make the effort in educating them.

rx7rcer09: I would personally disagree with you. Out of thoise two cars I think the Evo is way sexier. Not this new crap though just the 9 and below lol. IMO atleast. I think the STI looks like a Pug lol.

nicely written defense OP, its just too bad the idiots on that forum didnt pay much attention to it. they are all in their own worlds with their own perceptions that Suby > everything and V8 > everything on 4 wheels. they are close minded individuals and while i feel compelled to go in there and speak my own 2 cents (and post a link to Howard Coleman's AI thread) its just not worth it. ive run into guys like that down here and they're all the same unfortunately. they hear what they want to hear, and for them...that would be the rotary engine is a piece of garbage regardless.

Like its been said. Theres not going to be a way to get them to change their minds. The RX7 has a bad reputation in the tuner world from rumors and idiots. The only way to change their minds is to give them a RX to try for a year....and im not giving mine up lol.

i wouldnt give them one either, they'll just quit on the rotary and take the V-8 route so they dont have to put up with a completely different style of engine. they dont appear to have the will or the brains to research and learn the 13B for reasons i stated in my previous post

An RX7 cost about $36K new in 93,
The price of an STI still isn't that high even in today's dollars.

That should tell you something.

I agree. I don't really give a damn what people say about rotaries.. But it does pisses me off a bit when you spend 2-3 hours on the phone trying to advice someone how to build an FD and then they decide to go LS1... Why not just go buy a Z06?? They want to be different and want reliability.. If so, go buy an Z06 with warrantee!

But back to the topic at hand... I'm not sure what OP wrote is accurate.. But good enough for most. We all have different idea about what reliability and what mods are essential.

Good enough, I can live with that. I did go back and edit my original post on Nasioc using the suggestions made on here. Also, I wasn't trying to persuade the entire forum, but at least the OP on Nasioc found my post useful. He sent me this PM

"Thanks for posting up all of that information. It was exactly what I was looking for. Nice to see that at least one person knows what they're talking about. I'm going to go ahead and start the search, here goes nothing!

Thanks again! "

Yasser, I love that rear shot of the World Rally Blue Suby in the first pic you posted. Glad to hear you are looking for an 04. I like those the best, plus they are considered to be the most raw. No CD player, sound deading, floor mats, etc...
