So, i was just doing some accounting. I tallied up that my recent purchases have surpassed the 10k mark on NON consumable upgrade parts for my car. (not oil, plugs, repair parts, or insurance etc)
Im sure some of you have well blown that mark out of the water, but it was a milestone for me. I additionally have spent $2000 on parts that are no longer needed (y pipe, stock IC pipes, air intake for twins etc)
my RX-7 said i spent that money wisely. lol
Money is always a touchy subject, but im sure there are some other people with similiar eperiences.

$10K is usually a "Phase 1" mark for me. lol Off the top of my head with no receipts I'll easily be at that mark with this rebuild. I fully expect to spend at least 20 on any car I purchase anymore. Just sayin'.

For the few of us on the forum that bought our cars new and paid 25 to 30 grand for the cars and have been modding them (and replacing engines and turbos) ever since the 10K number was passed very long ago. Also keep in mind that 15 years ago 30K was a lot of money for a car.

Hi
In Portugal, this car new in 1993 with all taxes and fees cost something like 50.000 euros, more them 70.000 USD in your currency.
I expect to buy only the necessary to keep it stock and reliable. Anyaway in short time i will open a post to show my work done on my car.
Thanks
Filipe

ive spent approximately 8.5k over 2 years and that includes new turbocharger, haltech PS 1000, alky control kit, coilovers, fuel upgrades, rebuild, wideband kit, ACT clutch among other things. ugh i recently went thru my receipts and i was questioning my sanity in all this. oh well, once the car is tuned and im hauling *** it will all be better.

To save money, i love buying used parts in great condition. It is such a satisfaction getting a deal, i think i have a disorder.
Now thinking about it, every time ive bought a string of car parts, its been when im single. Honestly, i even bought my Cadillac CTS because i went to a business meeting with a gorgeous girl and i walked out to my taurus that i used to smoke shopping carts. (which by the way, pack a punch)
Im thinking about it and i bought my FD cause this girl i wanted to date, her dad saw my FC and said, " i thought the RX-7s were better looking than that, they had turbos didnt they" I went way out of my means to buy an FD.
I just went single turbo, so i dont look like the lowest guy on the totem pole at DGRR.
OMG i realized im a vain social creature...

10k is just the start believe me LOL, I have had my car for almost 7 years and several different engine/turbo combos and im 60k plus into my FD plus the cost of the car. But I finally found the right setup for me, so its all worth it!
Congrats on your small milestone
