Gotham Short Shifter - Impressions

Gotham Short Shifter - Impressions
Got it installed this weekend in about 20 minutes.
Some of the bolts to get the stock shifter off were a pain but overall not that bad.
The shifter itself seems to be pretty OK.
The Good:
1) Quick, precise shifts first through 5th
2) Reduces shift effort significantly
3) Smooth transitions between gears.
The Bad:
1) The neutral position seems to be slightly off-center from the stock position (leaning to the right).
2) This unit seems to rattle quite a bit (despite my using a counterweight **** by Greddy) when my hand is not on it.
3) It seems to site quite a bit higher (or at least the same height) as the stocker - which is not what I was looking for
4) The thread pattern seemed a bit different when it came to screwing on the greddy ****. I really had to use some elbow grease to get it on there.
The Fixes:
Does anyone have any experience cutting down the shift lever about 1"? I'd love to do this to reduce the height as well as the throw. A grinder or hacksaw should really do the trick.
I think this will take care of the height issue, but that still leaves the rattling and the leaning.
Overall:
I don't love it. I will probably try another shifter in the near future as the concept appeals to me, but the Gotham execution seems a bit lacking (rattles, lean, etc).
I may try the B&M or Mazdaspeed next.
Hope this info helps someone down the line.

rattling seems to be pretty prevalent with short shifters, i think mazdatrix had some statistic on this. i have cut a shifter before on my prelude and it did give it a shorter feel, its pretty easy, you pretty much just cut off how much length you want off (i used a dremel) and then rethread the lever
i think you should give the shifter a bit more time before you decide on changing, i doubt the difference will be that significant to justify the money spent

Make sure it is the "shifter" rattling and not the shifter hitting against the transmission tunnel (the Gotham will do both on some installations). My Gotham rattled so much I pulled it out and replaced it with a C's short shifter. Wonderful shift and not a noise since! Lot's of posts on this and many folks have had different luck/opinions of the many shifter options.
