Got some cash...opinions?

Yes, one of those threads. Anyways, I haven't been buying much for the RX7 like I should, so I am going to spend about 1,000 bucks on it. It's a 93 touring SSM/Red 5 speed with a new motor that has about 1000 miles on it. I have a DP, gutted cat, HKS carbon ti cat. I am definately not needing a monster as far as power mods go, so I would like to clean it up. It needs paint, but I was thinking of waiting a little longer on that. I was debating between suspension/wheels or a PFS/commander as being the main points of purchase. The car runs really nice as it is (could be a little better with the help of the PFC i know) but it REALLY needs suspension (I would be doing pillowballs at the same time) because it rides like garbage. Thoughts?

you will immediately feel the suspension, suspension mod will change the car like you wouldn't believe.

put something in there that you can set to a low, firm ride and leave em in. i think there's a guy selling megan coilovers for 900$ shipped somewhere in the parts section.

do the suspension first then the pfc later.

Do you have a boost gauge?

Some of the more experienced guys can correct me if I'm wrong but sounds to me like you have a recipe for boost creep:Picture a cold night, you go wide open throttle, sharp spike in boost....pop goes the wankel...

I think the PFC would help in that, or porting the waste gate, or maybe a good boost controller? Definitely should have a boost gauge to help monitor that, IMO.

I say I need to buy things because the suspension has 120K on it and the pillowballs are rotted out. I don't experience boost creep with my stock intake and ported wastegate....

Then I would replace the pillowballs. It's not that hard.

Buy some wheels, it is really the only thing an fd needs to look up to par or better than all the newer cars that are out. If it runs good then no need to go get a PFC right now. If you daily drive it I would suggest taking care of the suspension.

I have the pillowballs here and ready to go in. I am going to go with new suspension then. Actually, I have a lead on a very nice setup with 10k miles on it that would allow me to get them AND a PFC. Wheels will come later.

1. Brake refresh
2. Suspension refresh (shocks/springs)
3. Wheels

With $1000, you won't be able to do them all. So whatever is in need, start with that list. Also, if your tires are old/worn, replace them as well.
