Seems somthing is stuck in her throat... Making it hard for her to swallow. When I try to get gas I have to shove the nozzle in as hard as I can, and hold it there with all my weight. And most of the time she just spits it back out. Not to mention I look like an idiot spilling gas all over the place. Only way I can get gas in is very slowly, problem is pumps don't go slow they either on or off. I'm thinking the filler neck to the fuel tank might be bent causing the blockage. Also the car had been in storage for 4 years but it didn't have this problem when I fill up the 1st couple times. Except I do remember it only filling up to 3/4 tank which is wierd. Anyone have any ideas? otherwise im gonna stick a crow bar down her throat. I still need to change the fuel filter and the overheat exhaust system light comes on somtimes. Other than that shes been pretty healthy.

sounds like you should get under the car and remove the tank and then the filler neck

Good idea! but my parants would flip if they saw me doing that. I'd have to get some jack stands and do it in the drive way. I have no garage(brothers room)lol. I would think the fuel tank be kinda hard to get to.
Is it accessable with maybe an open end wrech, a few sockets. my tools are limited. Heres a pic of her. Shes had a hard life, 1st owener nearly killed her in accident. 2nd owner abandoned her when she was 8 years old.

Just take it to a shop. The fuel tank and filler is nothing special - but it's damn important.

Thats what my mom says. Wouldn't it be pretty expensive, i mean for a new fuel tank and labor. They would prolly want her to stay overnight ehhh. You guys don't like the crowbar idea?

First off, the car has no gender. It will be fine unless you choose a shop in a real bad area. Just check on their policy for replacement parts and get an estimate before you authorize work. Maybe they will be willing to install a used part (much cheaper!) if you waive the warranty on the work.

In any case, download the Factory Service Manual from www.iluvmyrx7.com and decide if you want to try and tackle it yourself. In any case, not being able to safely fill the car will fuel is an unacceptable situation, and if a cop sees you doing it this way they will probably cite you for it.

lol if i try just pumping gas like normal the pump shuts or it spills everywhere. One time a highway patrol was at shell when i was getting gas, I nearly slipped on the puddle of gas right in front of him. He didnt give me ticket though. If i could get the gas to pump a little slower it would be cool but it comes out to fast for her.

Take it to a mechanic and have it looked at. If you can't afford that, then you shouldn't be owning this car. It's that simple.

Sounds obvious but you need to go get it looked at. Perhaps something built a nest in the fuel tank while it was sitting for 4 years, or a serious layer of gunge/varnish built up which, on your first fill up, floated to the top of the tank and got stuck in the filler neck...

Hopefully you changed the other fluids and checked some basic things (like no mouse had set up home in your airfilter) after it sitting that long.

Go have someone take a look at it if you are not able to diagnose it yourself. Shouldn't cost more than a hundred bucks or something to have someone check it out for you. Perhaps your folks can chip in some money in return for you not jacking it up in their driveway and working on it yourself? Running it as it is now could be potentially hazardous to the car or yourself.

Dude, dropping the gas tank is as easy as scratching your ***. It truly is. I can understand your parents concern. Surely if you have a 3rd gen, you have some envious friends that have at least some basic mechanical inclination. Go over to their house. Buy a fuel filter on the way. Do not try to dislodge whatever is in the filler next. The trash will just fall into the fuel tank and the fuel will break down the material into small enough parts to clog your injectors and screw up the motor. Park the car until the weekend. Go to your friends house and you can knock it out in under four hours. Feel free to PM me and I can talk you through it.

The first owners accident, is that on the rear drivers side?

Also how much gas can you put in before it spills out?

How many miles are you getting out of each tank, before you refill?

Does your fuel gauge read empty and full, does it go to both extremes?

You can pull the fuel pump from the top and check the float to see if it has full range of motion. From there you would also have a pretty good view into the gas tank to see if you have crap in the tank. Then you can even test the fuel gauge and float at that time too.

Other then that it may be the filler neck.

I'm thinking I might have bent the filler neck after i drove back from reno. It was rediculosly hot that day. The long drive combined with the heat may have softened the metal, you know mazda did everything they could to reduce weight. If somthing was stuck in there it would have been knocked out when i get gas. I have to use great force to keep it from spilling out, its very difficult, I have 1 foot on the ground and the rest of my body used to hold nozzle in.

Doubtful, Rube. Steel and aluminum soften at much higher temps than that.

If you can afford to fill the car in SF, you can afford to have a shop check it out. Really, c'mon.
