Got my water temp gauge and pod installed

Hi guys I want to make sure that my watertemperatures are in the normal range here, I just got my aftermarket water temp gauge installed and have noticed that when the car is moving my watertemp reading is a little over 180 C , but when i am at a light or at a stop it soares right about 210 C, is this normal?

I hope you mean 210 F not 210 C. By the way mine shows also 210 F when i'm driving it around, sometimes goes to 230 F and then the fan kicks in. By my understanding that is normal, but it shouldn't pass 235 F

Anyway that's what i think, maybe someone knows better so it can correct me.

the max temp should be 210 and this is very dangerous as anymore and the temp will skyrocket, i would shut down at 215 degrees and pop your hood and turn your fans on high! you should have your fans on all the time via the fan trick or turning on your a/c or heater or something. if you fans are kicking on by them selves when you drive, your at around 220-230 and this is why people's engines water seals get screwed up!!!

im still amazed that people aren't concerned that their temps are at or near 210 unless your in the desert or something and even then thats too much!

In heavy traffic, with the fans turned on low the temp should be 200 and when on high, should be about 180-185 degrees.

ok on this site, after the explenation on how to install it, there is an explanation at the bottom of the page on how hot it should be.

http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobi...temp_gauge.htm

Quote: "From page T-24, Mazda Service Highlights:
Normal operating temperature is 158 - 221 deg F
My Cyberdyne digital showed 231 degrees when the low speed fan came on (ECU turns it on at 220) and went to 240 degrees during idle before the fans cooled it down. It ran at a constant 175 degrees just tooling around (55 degrees F outside) and rose to a high of 194 during spirited street driving".
Rob Robinette

That's what is says on his website. Now is that wrong?

anywhere between 180-230 f or 80-110 c is fine. any hotter and you've got problems. if the temps never get above 210 then that's great but that's the exception and not the rule. these motors just run hot with the turbos and rotary engine. nothing can stop that. it also depends on where the sensor is. it will be lower and not as accurate at the water filler neck then between the rotors.

u can run your car at 221 deg F if you like and feel that its normal but its not. also, if you do, please don't come on the board and bitch about having something like your water seals go, there are too many of those types of post already! also, it makes it sound as if fd's aren't relible and can't be used as daily drivers!
