got my ebay shortshifter, seems broken?

got the BM replica shifter off ebay.
40$ cant really complain.

not sure if its broken though.
if u push the shifter lever all the way to the right, the spring makes a clicking noise. maybe this is for reverse? or maybe the spring is coming off.

also if u move the shifter lever all the way down, say like u were going to fourth, it doesnt flow as smooth as in all the other positions. its seems like the white ball on the pivot point of the shift lever is not complete round. its seems to be causing the 'notchy' ness.

this sound normal?

i have not installed it yet though, it didnt come within any gaskets so i have to get some.

I bought mine of a club member, looks similar to the ebay one. I used a thin layer of black silicone to seal it. I rattles under load at certain rpm and doesn't have a rubber boot so I can smell the tranny fluid sometimes... thinking about going back to stock

supposed to be like that.
there is no gasket that you use. just get some high temp silicone gasket maker. (you can find it at any local auto store)
you will notice that fourth will feel okay when you put it on the car.
oh and it will rattle and stink a little, but for me its worth it.

I used my stock rubber boot and stock square plate with my Gotham shifter. No smells, no heat.

No stink!

There's no need to put up with the stink!!

Pull the boot off your stock shifter and modify it slightly if necessary...

Mine looks/smells like stock, but is just great to drive!

so why would anyway pay $180 for a B&M one instead of an eBay one? Difference?

Or is this just liek the solid torque braces, you're paying for the name.

Also annything different about the RX7store one, warranting the $275 price tag??
