Got the motor all apart, few Questions

As some may know I recently purchased my first FD which had a bad motor. Well I finished removing my motor and tearing it down. I was getting a lot of smoke at startup. The smoke looked white but defiantly smelled like oil. Upon removal and tear down of the engine I noticed one of the oil injection lines was cracked. That must have been why there was oil all over the place. I would like to replace them with SS lines but cannot find them... Need to keep looking. I also noticed that one of the side seals was stuck in the rotor. I am assuming this was where the oil smoke was coming from. I am very happy that it was not a broken apex seal which would have caused a lot more damage. Now I guess I need to decide which seals / rebuild kit to go with. Also, I think my e-shaft is going to need to be replaced as it is pretty rough. Can it be cut and used with oversized bearings? I am also going to have my irons milled and lapped. I saw a thread where someone had this done and it looked great. The irons are defiantly not 100% flat as I can feel high and low spots with my finger. http://www.yawpower.com/eb01t.html Finally, has anyone ever had the stock turbo stuff jet hot coated? Is it worth it to reduce the heat in the engine compartment? That’s it for now I guess, time to start degreasing parts.

SS oil pump lines can be found here:
http://www.rx7store.net/category_s/85.htm
or here:
www.gothamracing.com <-- here you just have to call them and order

I have not done a motor rebuild myself yet, but I am sure more help will chime in here in not too long. Good luck with the rebuild.

My suggestions:

1. Just pickup another e-shaft. They are pretty cheap. You can get an 84-85 e-shaft which doesn't use a thermal pellet.

2. Rebuild kit, just go OEM unless you have a reason to do something else. If you do have a reason, then you wouldn't be asking for opinions.

3. I wouldn't bother with the jet coating on the turbos. If you want to treat your exhaust (downpipe), that would be worth wild.

Thanks for the advise, I am new to roaterys and still have a lot to learn. I want to do this rebuild right the first time. The reason I was asking the questions on the rebuild kits was I have heard mixed feelings. Generally with the orings std vs. oversized and the apex seals. I guess everyone has their own preferences. I already purchased an HKS downpipe with the black 2000 ceramic coating. Is there any downside to not using the thermal pellet? Any other oil mods recommended?

The car may take a little longer to warm up, but that's about it.

My apex seals of choice would be the dual spring 2 piece 2mm ceramic apex seals, as they will withstand detanation a lot better just in case anything happens. The only BIG problem with ceramic seals is the $$$ lol ya factory seals should be fine, unless you plan on doing hardcore racing
