Good Track/Street Brake Pads

After reading Max Coopers "cheap brake install" section on on his website, I was under the impression that it truly is best to go with seperate pads for street and track...however after reading rx7.com's discription for the Bonez Performance pads, it seems that they might be the answer. Do you guys know anything about how these things handle on the street (dust/noise) and on the track (performance/fade)?

I use endless brake pads. But as far as good track, you might want to ask or search in the race car tech forum since they were just discussing it a few threads ago.

i second the hawk pads.

I highly recommend the hawk HPS is you are more street and don't want a lot of noise and dust.

If you are like me and dnot' care about noise and dust and just want good great pads for track use too, the Hawk HP Plus is for you. Front and rear pads will run under 100 bucks. Endless is good, but is way over that price range.

hawk hp Plus has a co-efficient of 0.48 if i remember correctly and up to 900-1000F before fading.

Hi,

I run hawk HP+ front and rear. Purchase them from mazda competition program for 50 for fronts, 50 for rears, can't beat that price.

They work very well on the track and street, they aren't too hard on rotors and last quite long. I find they stop very well, although they do produce some noise under light braking.

I have the Bonez. Excellent on street and good on track. Tracked it last weekend and didn't experience any fade whatsoever.

No noise issues and not too bad on the dust.

I have friends that run the HP+s and on the track they tend to eat up rotors.

I run Hawk HP+'s in the front and HPS's in the rear, haven't made it to the track yet, but I'm pretty hard on them on the street. The HP+'s do dust pretty good, but I rarely hear them squeak.

Might consider posting q's like this in the Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Brakes as you'll get the attention of the "tracked" FD guys quicker due to few posts in there.

I'll put in another vote for the Hawk HP+. I've had them on mine for 2 years now, mostly autocrossing, but a couple track events, and they have been great. I agree with the previous dust and squeel comments though.

I am very impressed with the Carbotech Panther+ pads.

http://www.carbotecheng.com/prod-ct-compounds.htm

They are a ceramic composite with a .54 friction coeficient.

They have phenomenal stopping power and very high fade resistance.
I have been very satisfied with them on the track.
On the street/highway, they stop so hard you have to be carefull not to get rear ended.

They squeek real bad following a track event.
After a few hundred miles of street driving they mellow out to a mild squeek.

They do dust a lot, but the dust rinses off very easily.
Fortunately they seem to be very easy on the rotors and last a long time.

When I get my big brake kit I'm going to run these pads as I think they are an excellent dual purpose pad for someone who tracks their car.
