Question is it good to gut out our cats

I dont have any extra money now or for a while. So I was thinking of gutting out my cats. Would this help the sound and hp for my car? my car is mostly stock except for the cold air induction, and is as quiet as a church mouse. please reply.........Dan

hey
gutting the precat is fine, a great way to get a little performance and cooling for basically nothing. its a pain though, that crap in there is tough!
if you gut the main cat though you should probably look at a computer upgrade or at least boost control, probably even with the stock catback...
good luck
