Good buy or not??

93 FD with blown coolant seals for 5K.

Body is in decent condition, interior in fair condition.
Car starts but blows alot of coolant smoke and keeps
fouling plugs.

5K good deal ???

Not bad. I paid 6 for the one I just got. It's a 93 R1 with 69k miles in excellent condition.
Apex seals were gone in the back rotor. Some people say it was a good deal, but not a great deal. Other people say I practically stole the car. I would say it depends on the history of the vehicle and how much you know about it. The more you know the better off you are. If you don't know the owner, run a carfax on it.

Around here, going rate for a shell is $3- 6k. Blown motor cars go for $9k. My car has a blown coolant seal and I want $13k+

$6k? ...hell son, you stole it!

$5k? Yes sir, she's a keeper.

I went over to Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge, gave them the blown motor and 2400 bucks and they gave me a remanufactured one which is going back in the car as son as the ACT clutch gets here.

figure $6,000 and throw in another 3 grand or so for a fully rebuilt engine and you got yourself a fully functional FD for under $10,000...much less than the cost of you buying a "running" one for around 20K+ that will probably be needing an engine rebuild sooner anyway

how about my clean title 94 touring in white on black leather in near mint condition with 62k that needed a clutch and an aluminum ast for 4500$, no rotor/coolant seal troubles, yet (almost up to 64k)

5K is a great deal. A rolling chassis with a clean title sells for that much. Buy it.
