im going to a 1/8th mi track tonight. ive done the fan mod. so they will be running between each run. my plan is to let it idle for about 2 minutes after each run before i shut it off.
im concerned about heat soak. my question is, how long should i let my car cool between each run.

i have a 93 auto. my mods are intake, dp, mp, greddy smic, hks exhaust, greddy profec b, efi pms (one setting for 10psi and one for 12psi). ill post my time slips tomorrow. im not expecting to much from a 1/8th mi, considering how slow the auto is off the line. but ill post my time slips tomorrow.

 

it will take you at least a half hour to cool it down somewhat if you have the fan mod done....but honestly...id let it cool down for a full hour and go fresh each time

i went to the track a year and a half ago....ran two runs in a row with about 20 mins between them...side seal damage due to heat.

granted it was reallllly hot out...but still....

be patient.

 

Yup, it's been about 5-6 months since I've had my FD, I still havent gone to the tracks yet. Its hard watching from the sidelines, but I'm committed to waiting until I have all the reliability mods first and foremost. And perhaps a right suspension setup for the drag strip.

Keep the hood open between runs with the fans running. After you turn the motor off and the fans run for 10 minutes restart the engine and run it for a couple minutes to get the coolant flowing again. Also, Bring a spray bottle with plain water to spray the IC as often as you can. Then you should be good to go again.

ok, on my first pass i line up against a FC TII. i had a crappy launch and my car broke about 15ft before the finish line. after pulling off the track, i got the dreaded symptons. very lumpy idle and boost gauge erratic around 10 on the vacum side. i checked all visible hoses including the map sensor. no such luck.
now the confusing part. after 3500rpms the car runs great with a perfect boost pattern. so if it is a blown _, shouldnt the power loss be in the high rpms not the low. ive ruled out a vacum leak considering no loss in boost. plus i checked the hoses this morning with some carb cleaner. i also changed my plugs, hoping a fouled plug was the culprit. no luck. now my answer lies in a compression check.

a blown motor will rev great through the entire RPM range. It will just idle poorly. Sorry to hear.

 

im expecting the worse. but, should it still pull just as strong in the high rpms?

22k on a mazda reman. im going to check the compression in a few hours.

 

i ran my 93 with 97k miles 6 times in a row on about a 70 degree night and ran a faster time each run, shes still going strong
