hmmm.... Well its annoying having to f- with the steel clamps that go around the tubes that connect to the airbox, but thats a walk in the park compared to other installs. Also you could just take out you filter and use an air pen/nozzle to blow out the dirt.

it's a bitch to remove the hoses in order to get to the filter. other cars just have the hoses connected to the bottom so you just have to remove a lid. god forbid mazda makes a car that's easy to work on.

Why bother. Free up some room with a good affordable home made intake. http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/kn_filters.htm I did this and if you don't mind the low rpm mooing of your airpump and the sweet sound of your air relief valve between gears it's a good way to go. I T'd into the fitting and hooked up my blow off valve and charge relief to the filters so it wouldn't bother anyone while cruising, but when you're on the boost you can hear them.

i would be concerned about putting in the k&n open intake without an upgraded intercooler and/or some kind of heat shield.

Just change out those stupid spring-type clamps with screw down clamps. I did and it makes the job a cinch

Hey JspecFD, can those screw-type band clamps be found in anodized colors without buying an airbox or even intercooler hose kit?

Do the air box mod by cutting out the bottom, then bust all the air pump muffler outta it for more air space..then listen to that god awfull noise from the air pump.
