Red face God Damnit!!!!@$^ my FD love/hate relationship

Well, today with much help from my buddy ryan (thanks bro) I pulled off the UIM and lots more to get to the rat's nest. We see that a few solenoids were broken, ****. Pull a few vac lines to see about replacing them, snap - crackle - pop! @$#%*! Well, to make a long story short, EVERY SINGLE SOLENOID on the rack busted. At this point, I am like well, it looks like I'm going non seq because a) I don't want to deal with this **** b) I don't want to spend $400 on new solenoids c) I don't want to spend 20 hrs replacing the rats nest with silicone hose and d) I want stone cold reliability and consistancy. So, we started ripping **** out and had to dremel the **** out of the rack to even get the bitch off. But now, everything's out and I am no longer a FD maintenance virgin. my main concern is what I'll do when smog comes around but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Next up is obtaining a Power FC with datalogit (does anyone sell PFCs with maps for non-seq already on it?), blockoff plates, gaskets, porting the turbo wastegate, taking out the Y-pipe butterfly, installing HKS downpipe, installing boost and water temp gauges, KOYO radiator, aluminum AST, plugs, plug wires, O2 sensor, welding a wideband bung into the DP, yadda yadda yadda. Looks like it'll be a fun way to start the summer, ****!

****

Any tips from anyone before I do all this stuff? I'm going to need both advice and luck to get all this **** done in the next month or so.

whew. anyone??? hehe

Advise, take your time and just do the full NS conversion.

Get intouch with Steve at www.gothamracing.com he can steer you into the right direction and get you good prices on everything. HKS downpipe you might want to do alittle research on HKS's downpipe... I just went with a stainless steel 3in downpipe from gothamracing along with their mid pipe and greedy titanium exhuast. She sounds great with a nice deep tone..

Well I'm in the same boat that you are, doing the same thing + a new wirring harness and engine mounts. The only part that I need is the DP. I'm not sure which one to use becaue I want one that will go in easy. The one I got doesn't even come close to linening up with the mid-pipe so I'm just going to get a new one (this one came with the car when I got it)

i think by full non-seq. he means removing the turbo and manifold and getting rid of the flapper door(cutting it out and pipe plugging the hole), etc. much longer than the poor-man's non-seq, but well worth it imo. i've driven my car both ways and the removal of the door made a difference, plus you don't have wire holding everything in place.
