Glowing Red Turbos

well i got my car on a dyno today, and after the session, my turbos were glowing red! is this a bad thing?

on the last run, i think there was some loose debris in there that slightly caught on fire but it was no biggie.

oh and one more thing... after my run, i noticed my car idled a bit funny. the engine would kinda shake and the idle SOUNDS a bit lumpy, but it wasnt visible on the tach. i also lost 1 lbs of vaccum somewhere. ive drove the car for 50 miles and everything seems to be fine. could this just be paranoia?

oh yea... i pulled 320 rwhp with 12 psi and close to 340 with 14.7 . original motor 93k .

my mods: full 3 inch exhaust, Greddy FMIC, K&N intakes, Pettit ecu, act clutch, SR 9.5 flywheel, greddy profec B and other little stuff i cant think of right now...

Hmm... see how it drives tomorrow. The idle could be a bad sign, but it could also just be a matter of the circumstances at that moment (hot engine, etc.)

Glowing turbos are not abnormal. Keep the debris out of there!

Nice numbers.

(I'll have that pulley off someday... but I haven't been able to get in for the rebuild yet. I'll email or PM you when it is available, so you can tell me if you still want it at that time.)

Well, when you dyno a car, you push the engine to the limit of it's ability, and that alone could cause a vacuum hose to slightly come off.

My airbypass valve (BOV) hose came loose once and it made my idle lumpy, scared me.

But if power is fine and idle is lumpy, it's a tiny leak. I wouldn't worry.

Oh hey Denny, I might need your stock air-box and stock exhaust parts faster than i thought. I got a fix-it ticket =D

Last time I dynoed my car it did that. What had happened to mine is my front leading spark plug wire decided not to work anymore, and it was causing the engine to run so rich it was basically flooding it. I took it out right after it came off the dyno and drove it about 2 miles, and it ran fine after that. I also had a Pettit ECU in at the time and very similar mods to yours. It's possible that could be what happened to yours too (not the whole wire thing, but just running slightly richer than normal).
